How best to smoke hash

So my friends all tell me that hash shouldn't be smoked in a joint because it 'doesn't burn as well as weed'. I'm aware that smoking anything in a joint is going to be less efficient than a pipe or bong, but do people reckon smoking a joint of hash is actually wasteful compared to a joint of weed?

I should be picking up a lump of quality afghan tomorrow so any advice much appreciated :)

If you smoke it in a blunt or joint actually put weed in there, sprinkle the hash on top of it. If you buy swag or mid and put hash in your joint holy shit makes it feel like dank, maybe not the taste but the high is great. Your friend is correct it doesnt burn real well by it self but it is possible.

I love when people say ur wasting weed-- thats the reason you buy it is to smoke it and waste it, not to look at it, haha good stuff.

Its really personal preference in my opinion but when it comes to hash, yes you are wasting it if you put it in a joint or blunt. Hash needs to be slowly burned at very high temperatures in order to get the most out of it.

what if it was a hash cake. like, a cake literally made out of different types of hashes...

holy shitfuck that would be the best dessert ever...

Smoking hash in a tobacco joint is not particularly wasteful, it is less efficient than a pipe though. Tobacco joints are also harmful to your health, of course, and not to everyone's taste. Chillums are also nice but they have the same drawbacks as joints.

Vapourising, either with a vape or hot knives, is efficient, tasty and healthy. Bongs also work well, although very pure hash might melt and flow through the screen.

However, if you're getting real decent piece, my favourite method other than a joint is captured side-stream smoking: poke a drawing pin (thumb tack) through a beer mat or some other card or paper base, roll a sausage of hash out, and stick it on the pin. Then, light one end of the sausage until it holds an ember. Cover the whole thing with an inverted glass, wait for it to fill, then lift the glass slightly and suck the smoke from it. Replace the glass and repeat until the sausage is burned. You can't leave it too long or the smoke will go stale. This method is efficient, and also very good if you want to examine the quality of your hash; the flavour is pure, and the ash is preserved to be observed for colour and consistency.

If your hash is so pure that it melts and runs down the pin, the best method is to place some ash on top of the gauze in a bowl and smoke the hash off that. The ash acts as an inert substrate.

Apparently if you freeze the glass beforehand the smoke stays in the glass when you turn it upright. That could be an urban myth though.

It might work if you wash the glass first so it's wet when it goes in the freezer; I've done this and done blowback on a joint to fill the glass, the smoke settles in there nicely. It's more of a party trick than a real smoking option though imo. I have a feeling that turning the glass over might lose quite a bit of smoke though. Also, if you turn the glass over the snake of hash is going to be just burning into the air.

Do it like this:
1º get a cig then brake it in half
2º lick the white part of the cig that you've broke,(that will make it easy to open the half.)
3º sprinkle the tobacco in your hand
4º put the amount of hash you want to smoke on top of the tobacco
5º heat that with a lighter ( but don't let the flame burn the hash, it's a waste)
6º crumble the hash with your fingers and mix it with the tobacco
7º roll a joint
8º ENJOY
and that kids it's how you roll a joint of hash the european way :D

I think that is actually what I was talking about man. I got confused. I know it is a UK thing though :)

I didn't realise it was a British thing. It's worth trying, because it is pretty cool and it's also an interesting sensation to "drink" the smoke-you have to kind of pour it into your mouth.

cheers for the responses guys, lots of interesting ideas

it looks like pipes are the way to go in terms of economy, but i'll definitely be giving the glass thing a go too, it looks sick!

I've been told the glass technique works well and that hot knives do too but that does wreck a pair of kitchen knives.

I've only had top quality hash once and that was in Spain and I just had a very small piece of it so I just smoked it in a wooden pipe and I'd collect the smoke and inhale it all at once.
