How bad will withdrawal symptoms be?

I've been using opiates for about 2.5 months continuously now. My habit peaked at 100 mg oxycodone daily. I've been tapering down and I'm now at 20 mg hydrocodone for the last 5 days. I just got screwed in a deal so I'll have to go cold turkey tomorrow. What will the withdrawal be like from that dose level?

after doing 20mg hydro for 5 days i can't imagine it being that bad.

i read a book about a doctor who worked in a prison; alot of inmates were coming in and were having to go cold turkey

he likened the withdrawal symptoms to have a flu for 3 days; and said the whole opiate withdrawal being terribly difficult was just BS

He clearly has never gone through a hardcore heroin withdrawal, or methadone withdrawal. While it won't KILL you, it certainly is much fucking worse (for me at least) than any flu I have had. I survived cancer and chemo therapy and whatnot and JUST finished over a year of straight treatment, and I would rather repeat that year, than endure dope withdrawal cold turkey again.

Anyways, you seem to have tapered, albeit quite fast, and haven't been using for very long so while it will definitely be uncomfortable, I think your detox should be bearable with the help of a few comfort meds. Loperamide is a godsend, benzos if you have access, plenty of fluids, exercise, things to occupy your mind, vitamins, a muscle relaxer.

There are a billion threads on withdrawal, use the search engine and you will find a plethora and a half of info to help you.

Nevertheless, I wish you luck, you'll be ok !

That doctor was dumb, he doesn't know what it "feels" like. He only goes by what he sees and those inmates were probably using hydrocodone for a few months and say they used heroin to sound hardcore. I've seen an inmate in prison (yes, I've been there. Not proud) suffering heroin withdrawals and goddamn. He would yell all night and during the night in his cell he would stay curled up in a ball crying. He was fine after a few nights though. I've been through both heroin and methadone withdrawals and they are terrifying, especially Methadone, I vomited all day for like a week.

Thanks for the help you guys. The withdrawal is definitely tolerable. It's way worse than when I quit a 2 pack a day cigarette addiction and that's only 2 vicodin a day. My main problem is the anxiety because I had problems with it before I started. I'm not sure what is normal for me anymore.

Good idea. I've had to work while going through withdrawals and the anxiety was terrible. I'd become sweaty and it would be hard to think straight. Hard to function when your that way.

I went off of 100 mg oxycodone in order to motivate my taper schedule because I had never experienced full blown withdrawal. From that level, it was full blown panic and feeling like I got hit by a truck. I was so confused and I'll never forget the clarity and relief after I took some oxycodone. You're a stronger person than me if you worked during withdrawals.

I have had to go to work in many bad mental states. At least in new york, nobody feels bad for you. They all looked at me with disgust when I was trying to count their money with shaking hands. This is before I ever took drugs and people wonder why I take them now.
