You know what's worse than not being able to sleep and being bored @ 3am? Being in an unfamiliar lab room, wired into machines and not being able to sleep while bored. Thankfully I'm allowed to use my laptop, although they want me to try to avoid any distractions for as long as possible while I'm supposed to be trying to sleep
