So i am a convicted felon with a herion addiction problem. I have lost everything, job, house, respect of family and my wife. I tried to find work to no avail. I do not qualify for food stamps, medical, welfare or general relief. I am now homeless with no help from the government at all. I just do not understand how the government wants you to better yohrself but make yoj ineligible for every government assistance there is. Frustration is an understatement. I was wondering is it like thjs through the whole world or just fucked up Cali. I all want is to dry out, get a job and get my wife back and just be a productive member of society. Fuck the government for implementing these road blocks.

Do you not qualify for those social services because of your record?

I had no problem getting on food stamps and general relief for the month that I really needed it. I don't have a record though.
 
first thing is get clean.

thats whats setting you back. Fix that and things will fall into place. As soon as i got clean, a job fuckin fell into my lap....maybe luck, maybe not.
Also a lot of jobs drug test, and then you'll find yourself unemployed as fast as you got the job. a guy just got fired from my work for coming up hot for dope on a drug test. That stays on your record that you failed a test.

and how are you accessing bluelight while homeless? library? I think that would be the least of my worries if i was homeless ;)

I know that some states will take care of its people... but Cali... You can thank Gov. Reagan for getting rid of most social programs and assistance facilities in the 70's. Since then, no Gov. has been able to get them back, the government has run out of money. It's horrible. I can only empathize. There are some charitable organization in the major city I live in. They are not the best places to go, but at least they are something. I think, like opium said, getting clean is the first thing you HAVE TO DO.
