How accurate is the GEM20 at 30mg?

well maybe there is an error range listed somewhere in the handbook (+/- mg). what you can also do to get an idea is wighing the same amount multiple times, noting each measurment, then calculating the mean value and the standard deviation, look it up on the internet if you don't know about it, it's just two easy mathematical formulas.

basically, the mean value is all values you measured added together and then divided by the number of measurements. eg if you weighed it 5 times, you add all five values, then divide by five. in statistical theory, if you do it an infinite amount of times, the mean value wil become the true value, but just a few measurements will give you a very good approximation.

with the mean value, you can calculate the standard deviation, which will give you an idea of the precision of your scale; basically, large standard deviation means that the single measurements deviate a lot from the mean, which means that the device is not very accurate (and vice versa).

I hope my post was of help :)

ps calibrating the scale before use is also a good idea

Well a general rule of thumb is that a scale is accurate to 1 less digit than it reads. So if it displays x.xx, it's accurate to x.x. Sometimes the manual will give more specific error ranges.
