Hookahs?

I'm looking into them right now and was wondering, can you just smoke marijuana out of it without constantly using the flame? can you use the coles that are used for the flavored tobacco.

I have seen people mix a 1/2 tabacoo and 1/2 bud before, but i was just wondering could it be done 100% bud, and if so how efficient would it be? problems with stale smoke??

If you're used to the taste of shisha and smoking out of a spliff, the taste from putting 100% weed in the shisha will be different than what you are used to. I find it to be really harsh. Also, it will dirty the hookah quicker.
 
2 kids here have hookahs and for 4/20 we packed about a 4-5 grams in with some shisha in a small bowl (one coal bowl). It tasted horrible and the actual thc we think burned off nearly immediatly when the whole thing was hot enough to smoke.

Overall I'd say weed from a hookah is a waste, you can do it this way and get bad tasting results, or you can simply smoke from a bowl which eats through weed like there is no tomorrow. Most of my friends with hookahs, here and in PA only use them for shisha and special occations for weed simply because of the amount it eats up.
 
i do remember on one occasion packing a hookah bowl with about an 8th and hitting it and i was high as fuck... but i also heard its not good for the hookahs anyway
 
Ok to anyone who says hookahs are crappy or a bad choice for pot. I couldn't disagree more. You make it about 2/3 shisha and 1/3 pot like ~1-2grams, and it should get you really stoned. The bowl should be covered with a sort of screen that your coal can sit on. Make sure the shisha and bud aren't overflowing, otherwise they might burn causing a bad taste.
Remember less is sometimes more.

If you do it right, it's very similar to a vaporizer, and it's a very tasty alternative.

I don't think anyone was saying that. The first poster was asking if it was efficient to smoke weed only in a hookah.
 
Lumberjam.. I've been using hookahs for the last 3 years. I enjoy using them a lot. Usually with friends (3 hoses on mine). I have tried diferent things to keep my bud going without lighting. I have tried coals on a few different occaisions. But each time the bud tasted funny to me. But the bud did stay going. The coal was on top of the bud so it heated it nicely.. but the taste yuck. So to answer your question, yes you can do it. I just purchase 3 or 4 gas grill lighters the ones with the long extension and they are very easy to use. You don't to close to the bud and you don't burn your fingers lighting it. If you get a hookah or already have one, be sure to get screens like someone mentioned. The holes in the hooka bowl are large enough for bud or pieces to fall through. I have never tried it with tabacco just 100% bud. In Amsterdam I tried the tabacco / bud combination in a blunt. But that tasted horrible. I don't smoke ciggaretts so the tabacco thing never worked for me.

In Turkey, nobody wastes their weed with nargile (hookah); people smoke a mix of hash, opium gum and tobacco (sometimes tobacco with one of these substances alone) with these. As said before weed burns too quickly on the other hand this mixture is just right for nargile; also they use real coal from the grill, works much better. It is usually smoked slowly for a good 2-3 hours. Good luck.
 
i've smoked pot from a hookah with the coals before, no problem. it works like a vapie, i found.

i thought it was very nice...i think i've only done it once, though...and it got me incredibly high...we had like a huge amount of pot in there, too, tho, heh.
 
hookahs & bud

Been goin to some hookah lounges lately and thinkin about buying one. I was curious if anyone regularly smokes bud out of a hookah. Any advantages/disadvantages? Is this preferable to a pipe, bong or bubbler or is it best to stick with tobacco for hookahs? Thanks.
 
A hooka is basically a bong with a tube. Only the bowl is on top. The only thing that might cause a problem is that shisha is moist and the weed would be dry, so may be mix the two ... Melon&Honey flavored spliff sounds badass
 
The taste is just way too harsh, even if you mix it with the nargile. ALso, cleaning the hose out is going to be a bitch, and sometimes loose chunks of resin from within the hose flies into the back of your throat on those big hits. Stick to the tobacco if you're doing a hookah w/ charcoal.

It's nice to do once in a while though, as the experience is different. It gives me some major couchlock! :D

Well there's the question of portability. You can bring a hitter or a bowl out of the house, obviously you can't with a hookah. However, when it comes to just getting a hundred and one folks blitzed as can be, hookahs and blunts do the trick nicely. Why not a bowl or a joint or even a bong? A joint or bowl, and particularly a bong if it's cleared every time its hit, it a slow way to get many people high. Noone wants to smoke 3 bowls a head on ten people with a bong. That's means loading it 30 times, it gets annoying. But on the other hand, hookahs, which are in a way like bongs, and blunts, which burn very slowly, can be passed around ten people several times, more still if you only take one hit a head (my friends and I tend to hang onto them for a minute and smoke multiple hits each).

EDIT: Oh and my preferred tabacco/pot ratio is about 60/40 . Put a good bit of tobacco in there; ideally each nugget will be 'insulated' from the other nuggets by tobacco or the molasses that coats the tobacco. This means the bowl will only burn at a slightly higher speed than a tobacco bowlpack would, because it can't burn the quick burning weed all the way through in one go, it has to get through the molasses/tobacco.
 
I smoke weed out of a small hookah all the time. Nothing gets me more riped.

If you just put enough weed in it, it should just cherry and you can smoke at leisure.
 
sorry im high... someone explain to me again about this coal lighting method... coals fromwhat exactly..and only in a hooka?

ok i'm high too. and bored. so here's a basic explanation and a quick doodle on ms paint:

1. pack bowl

-bowl is a ceramic like piece that's made for a hookah

2. wrap foil tight around bowl and poke holes on top

3. light charcoal

-there is charcoal made for the shisha although you can also use regular charcoal. it's just more of a bitch.

4. put charcoal on top of foil after its burning nice and hot (no black spots)

5. puff

My friend has a hookah and we tried out this same theory with some middies and just had a layer of shisha, layer of weed mixed with hash, and another layer or shisha. IMO it worked but not as efficent as other smoking devices but it was cool smoking it with apple flavored tabbaco.

Hm..I wonder if just smoking hash out of a shisha would work decently or a 60/40 mixture of hash and tabbaco. Something to think about also is trying vodka instead of water in a hookah. It gets you soooo drunk.;)
