So, I left the place in Baltimore this morning. Grabbed any thing I could find that seemed important, wrecked the place and made a huge mess. I have decided that I'm basically leaving all of my worldly possessions behind and startIng fresh somewhere else.

My car has been towed, and I don't really even have the money to pick it up, so idk if I'll be carless or not. But I'm definitely going to be homeless. My stepsister took us in for the weekend. After this, I have no idea what's going to happen. I imagine I might be able to find someplace by myself, but I don't think she has any options at all. I tossed all of my drugs and am gonna try and leave that all behind.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me, and/or is anyone willing to take in a couple + two dogs? And if not both of us, then at least just me?

I don't want to have to be alone, I want to be with her. I just don't know exactly what I could even do to make this happen. I have NO money, but have the capacity to get a job anywhere I go and contribute everything I can to make this happen.

Long story short, I'm going to be homeless in a couple days, and need somewhere to stay, just let me know if you have any ideas for me at all.

Is your only vehicle in the tow lot right now? That would be my main focus right now, whatever you can do to get it back because you obviously know just how important it is, plus gives you a roof if you need it.

So sorry to hear man if I had a place for ya I would have ya stay.

Yes, and yeah, you're right. But I don't have the keys to it. So even if I could get it back, what good is it with no way to operate it?

sorry to hear you're struggling and i hope you get it figured out - wish i could help but i don't know anybody in that area

I hate to hear about this, man. The time I was homeless I was off my meds and tumbling down a rabbit hole of full blown psychosis. I was very fortunate to have family take me in after the streets chewed me up and spit me back out. I know you don't have this type of option, so the best advice I can give is what I learned in a previous career as a social worker in homeless services.

Try to get someplace warm if at all possible. By that I mean trying to scrape up enough dough to get on a Greyhound and leave Baltimore for a warmer climate city with preferably progressive/liberal politics. It matters because conservative cities are pretty harsh on their homeless neighbors by passing laws and ordinances to make it hard to be there, ie., laws against sitting or laying down in public, laws against panhandling/flying signs, etc.

It's no coincidence that progressive cities also tend to have a better social safety net like homeless shelters, supportive housing for people cycling out of homelessness, medical clinics where homeless folks can get health, substance, and/or mental health treatment. Ultimately, the gatekeepers for safety net housing are the social workers. Oftentimes, if one can get to a medical clinic or mental hospital or something, they will have a social worker on staff who should know about housing options. And if they don't know, they should know someone who does know. Of course, the first step is asking for help.

If you want to bypass social services and go completely off the radar, I don't have much more I can say. When I was homeless, I did not use any social services. By luck I ran into some people who were willing to let me stay in the abandoned house they were squatting. But those guys, ex cons, ended up being more dangerous than I originally realized and the lesson I learned was don't trust people you don't know, which is pretty much everyone out there. And watch out for gang members, who tend to be younger than the rest. I know you are trying to give up drugs but drugs are easier to find when you're living on the streets, so be careful and don't let yourself fall prey to predatory hustlers who may act like they give a shit about you.

I wish I could take you in here but it's not my place and we're already at capacity.

Yeah, go to social services and try to get public housing. It's transitory, but I feel there's a boom here of no money no jobs and bailouts to continue doing the same thing.

Until the dollar collapses and it's only going to get worse. So find yourself a room in a transition house. Only thing is, there's probably a wait for a room.

I was in connecticut public housing in Danbury for 8 months or so. They put me on food stamps and disability for schizophrenia. Only catch is you have to take their meds. But you get basic income. My fight is to allow the economy to recover and get research jobs at university that pay you to earn you doctoral degree. Creating new wealth, and avoiding the mess of shots, pills, that you don't want. Case workers can get you assistance, but that's also how the government baits you.

I should be getting a "pad" this week (maybe tues? ). If it comes through I can help ya. Its in Charleroi PA and we looking for another cook.
In the same boat but hope it is crinkled out soon. Its been a bitch, I tell ya what.
But yeah man. Im with ya if nothing is figured out by the time I get my spot.
Peace

Damn I'm sorry you're going through this... Hope you can get out of this situation soon.
I don't have much advice to offer but getting your car back seems important.

We could get a BL housing project going. Something like what Tim Leary used to live in in the mountains of upstate New York. Like our own big house with a dozen rooms or so. We'd make our own rules and make some money doing it.
That would be a great idea. All we need is a cheap piece of land and a couple of construction guys to build a place. Buy it somewhere rural where people can have their animals and be able to spend time outdoors with no neighbors.

Everyone is welcome and some rules would be established but not many. Get an old VW bus to cart everyone around in and make it sort of like a commune.

Take turns cooking and other than that everyone is free to just live their life as long as they aren't bothering anyone else. Live and let live but do the fucking dishes when it's your turn.

We can call it Bandit's House and the only requirement is to give up his stash of midget porn for saturday night free movie showcase. Popcorn is extra.

Maybe an old campground or hotel. All I can afford right now is a camper. but I'm hoping to make a property purchase one day.

I ran into someone else at a festival that was doing something like that. Fixing up a house to make it for that exact purpose like a detox or rehab and it was near Syracuse. But I don't her contacts. It would be something to float around. If not for fun, then to make some money. Or save some. @Nurse Ratched

There is an old hotel in Clifford PA where I go often. I think it's currently owned. But it's constantly changing hands.

Then remembered my favorite bar 'Orson Country Inn' is a restaurant bar hotel. And it's been closed for sometime. I'm trying to locate an owner or how to purchase the property. It used to house bartenders and cooks and employ them there. But it didn't drum up a ton of business.

As a former homeless bum myself more times than I like to admit if you haven't noticed it's cold outside with more on the way.
Find yourself a decent homeless shelter to hang out in until at least the weather warms up.
Last one I was in was in Columbus Ohio.. A lot of them will have programs to help you get back on your feet and some even help with addiction issues..
It's not for everyone, but it sure as hell beats freezing to death. I've been very close to that more times than I ever want to remember. It ain't no fun and not anywhere near as much fun as seen on TV..

i was homeless in Portland oregon, they had a place for women , not just women in domestic violence situations, but it was transitional housing, low rules, just couldnt drink, curfew and had to look for work, and they didnt ask you to leave after a month, they have lots of help for women in bad situations but i dont think for men, which i find sad, tho most these women did come from violent situations, i dont know how to advice you after some of the best advice given already and id look into that farming fish, hell i wish to go, my heart goes out to you and i mean this Def, you are so beloved here and i can see why, ty always being there for me, wish i could be there for you, but we are hanging by a thread .
