home test kit

A friend just got some pills a friend is worried about taking becuase their test kit has gone bad (all the reagents are brown before touching anything). A friend is wondering if anyone knows if something like this:

Would show positive somehow for a replacement test? Maybe mixing a bit of substance into some warm water and letting it soak in or something?

He is worried but cannot get a new kit before saturday night

Dude, I think what you posted is actually a test kit to find out if a person has taken a drug..IE: Not to actually test what your pill contains.
