So the opiate thing I've got under control. I've been skipping 2-3 days at a time and insomnia has not been bad at all.
As long I continue with my tapering/skipping days/eating well, its fairly easy to deal with so far.

SOOOO I decided, "what the hey", lets quit smoking weed now too. I felt like I was ready for it, so I stopped.
2 days pass by and I feel great. I'm more motivated than I've been in a long time, feel super ambitious, I'm honestly
loving the way I feel being off pot.

Untill day 3 struck, and holy shit, the insomnia is WORSE than opiate wds!
Or maybe its a combination of opiate wds and cannabis wds. But the opiates wds have really been minor.

The thing is, I can NOT go back to smoking pot. I simply don't want to. My brain feels so much clearer without the pot.
I also feel like my IQ has gone up a little bit lol.
Today is day 5, and last night was the same. I did NOT SLEEP for 1 minute.

I am also wired up like I'm on speed or something. My body is AMPED, but my brain is begining to detach.
I had NO IDEA that cannabis withdrawal was even real, nevermind this intense.

For anyone who's gone through this. How long does the insomnia generally last? With opiates I was smart to taper,
but for pot I just didn't see the point. Anyhow, will antihistamines help? Does anyone know what is actually triggering
the insomnia?

I was reading online & people were saying that your body doesnt' know when to sleep. Because most people toke at night,
and your brain then knows its bedtime. Well I call bs on that for a simple reason. Its been 3 days, my body HAS TO KNOW
that it needs to sleep! So does anyone know what is going on biologically? I know with opiates is usually adrenaline thats
all over the place.

What gets knocked off balance when you stop pot? That I can possibly supplement w/out pot?

Thanks guys - Bo

Hey man, sorry to hear of the sleep problems you are suffering. I tried to give up pot a few months ago, and it completely screwed with me too.. Only I wasn't having sleep issues, it was more severe panic attacks ALL day long -.-
Marijuana is so often misjudged in terms of the ways it can change you. The more you smoke the more adapted your brain is becoming to the drug.
Battling opiates on top of pot must be a tremendous task.. I can't tell you how long you are going to be feeling this way, but I hope its not too long.
Let us know how you go sleeping. Good luck! Stay straight :)

I used melatonin to help sleep when I kicked my big habit. I also exercised more. But yeah, people underestimate cannabis withdrawal. It has alot to do with the quality and how much you are smoking.

Although I still admit opiate, benzo, and alch. withdrawal is much much worse.

Been through that. For me it took some weeks. I suffered from a lot of pain back then too, so maybe it would have been taken not as long, if it wasn't for that.
Good luck!

The cannabinoid system interacts allosterically with opioid receptors, so cannabis and opioids are really like two keys that open different locks on the same door. Quitting both at the same time is sure to magnify your problems, but don't worry... if you're already 3 days in you're on the downhill run. Give it a week or two to get better, and take some melatonin to help you sleep in the meantime. :)
