hitting in the feet

is it really as painfull as people claim? i ask because my hands are getting quite scarred so i want to switch injection sites and ive got great veins in my feet.

my only worry is that before i could hit myself someone tried to get me in the foot, they were definatly in the vein as i asaw them pull back blood, although they may have slipped out i dunno but they only injected like two units and the pain was unbelievable so i told them to take it out and stick it in my arm where it was fine.

my foot then doubled in size and i got an abcess which needed a very strong course of anti biotics to clear up. now i dont know if this was because he didnt clean the area before going in (sock off needle straight into sweaty foot) cause all the works were sterile or if this is how it would be every time if i took a hit in the foot. what do you guys think cause i really need some new injection sites that are easily hidden

Yep feet hurt like hell and are more prone to infections. If you are gonna do that again wash ur feet first!...my hands are scarred to hell too. Vitamin E helps w/scarring.

I've only hit my feet as a last resort and all I noticed was that I had to get up and walk to even feel the shot.

Oh man, avoid your feet. At all costs. You've already had some bad news from doing it. And yes, it is pretty damn painful to have a needle in your foot. I have never IV'd drugs, but was in hospital for nearly 3 years straight, and had 40+ operations ( lol i'm only 25 now... ), and because of having soooo many Canula's and IV lines in me constantly for long periods of time, all my main veins collapsed - So sometimes the Dr's/Nurses/Anaesthetist's had to put the fucking things in my feet, obviously they are good and they know what they are doing, but they still fucking hurt.

i havnt used my arms too much i just cant see the veins on them none of them pop out like they do (or did) on my hands and feet so since my hands are fucked and my feet are a no go, how can i find some veins on my arms? i think they must be deep or some shit cause i cant even see them?

Take a hot shower
lift weights or at least do pullups and push ups. it will make em pop out like crazy
drink alot of water
us a tourniquet

but please dont try to IV in your feet its very dangerous

check the top side of your arm. there are usually 1-2 veins up there people forget all about.

if your out of veins in your arms start IM'ing / Plugging

IVing in your feet has a higher risk of complications such as infection and thrombosis than IVing in your arms. It is painful but that really isn't the worst of your worries.. being as sterile as possible helps, but as you found out it is easy for it to go wrong. As this has already happened to you once I really would avoid the feet, or any other dodgy spots, and have a think about whether carrying on IVing is really a good idea..

If you are going to carry on then take a look at a vein map (google it) and try the tips mentioned above - you want to be warm and well hydrated, and tourniquets / exercising can help your veins to appear more prominent. Take your time looking and familiarise yourself with what a vein feels like - sometimes the best veins are barely seen but can be felt well once you have the knack.

To keep your remaining veins healthy it is really important to rotate your sites and use a fresh needle every time, even if you miss and have to try again, as they become blunt very fast and can really damage your veins.

If you are at the stage of running out of arm veins and considering more dangerous spots then it really might be time to consider a different ROA, such as plugging. IMing is not very safe however - there is a high risk of developing an abscess and in many ways it is more dangerous than IVing..

I have done it.. it's hard to bend down and do that first of all, there is no fat so if you miss it really fucks with your foot, and its bad to go that far from the heart (anything under the waste is bad really).

Also you have mad dirty feet usually from socks and sweat, you dont want that shit getting in ya know?

OPain wise its no worse than anywher eelse depending waht vein you use.

Aside from inserting the needle you will never EVER feel pain while injecting unless you are missing.

Feet are only suggested when hands and arms are too scarred or trying to hide your tracks.

Make sure feet are nice and warm.
Wash with antibacterial soap. rinse, dry.
Wipe w/ alcohol (sterilizes and numbs a little)
Use a 29 or 30ga needle, anything will hurt bad.
Tie, Insert, register, release tie, push.
(Keep hands as still as possible, don't miss and be conscious of your ankle/foot bone.Put pressure near entry point when pulling out, hurts less)

I find that since it's so far from the heart, it takes a while longer to feel the onset of your drug.
