HiIP Hop - The most complex lyrical music

Mental, I was listening to that album earlier during some rare office work today and thinking that that track in particular is a great example of innovative forms and a lyricist who is not afraid to pull far wider cultural influences than the stereotypical norms into his work.

Always loved 'I'm cool with the gods, I could never use the facade
Of a musician to celebrate hate and abuse women
' off Beauty

I've been thinking about hip hop a lot today.

NAS is my fav. One of the best ever. I don't car much for his new stuff, but his older stuff is incredible.

Brimz I love my hip hop and G Rap is my all tiem fave :)

Looking forward to his godfathers album with NECRO, should be an intersting contrast, they both got great multis.

I've always said (some) hip hop lyrics are 3 dimensional compared to most lyrics being one dimensional, kind of hard to put into words. Some of the more abstract styles can be interpreted so personally.

You know the juice crew are over soon?

my first concert was Run D.M.C and P.E in 86 iirc.

Yeah G Rap is my fav all time his lisp n multi sylabic rhymes , well everything he's the DON .
Mind i luv all The Juice Crew Marley, Craig G, Masta Ace, n not 4getting The Big Daddy, Roxanne Shante , Biz .
Mr magic R.i.P

No i did'nt know that The Juice crew are over here this year , G Rap don't perform with em know it's usually Kane , Craig G n Ace n sometimes BIZ is with em .

Iwould do almost anything to see em they were my heros as a kid n tbh they still are

Yes
Beauty and the beat is phenomenal.

Every sentence in that album seems to be a treasured gem by someone or another.

FWIW, I'm surprised no one's mentioned graffiti, break-dancing or turntablists yet.

amazing, love that beauty track.

Cornish, I think it's because the thread is about (or was intended to be about) lyricism. There's already a standard hip-hop thread (which for some reason I never read).

+1 to the Edan album btw. Not listened to it for fucking ages. Cracking CD. Also, shout out to Blueprint with his 1988 album purely because I remember getting into those two albums around the same time & they are both quality.

Been loving this track recently as well - Blaq Poet - Voices although I think my man Reggie Noble did the concept better with the samples - Redman - I See Dead People. Redman is one of the illest cunts in the world, if I'd to pick one rapper I'd like to hang about with it would easily be Redman.

"Damn, what the fuck I gotta do? I just heard Dirty screamin 'BROOKLYN ZOO!'"

Too fukin right he's nut's did you see the MTV Cribs of his gaff it was fukin ace he was so down to earth n funny permenantly blazed as well

Edit

Yeah i was wondering why a B Boy like yer self%) don't post in the Hip Hop thread you should as you are def down with all thats good .

Yeah i get this it's the imagery that a good MC can create.
Like i said earlier on MCS like Nas well early Nas can atke you all the way to the 41st side of Queens if you just close yer eyes n listen to Illmatic .
Mobb Deep as well ffs theirs hundreds but those two are quite easily accesible

Good point mate you gotta remember the other components of the culture of Hip Hop.

I made a post about The Rock steady Crew in the music thread awhile back but it was overlooked by many .#

Well SHM gave me props for it .

A bit of the Riviera Hustle always cheers me up :)

Jehst:

I wanna parlay man, yeah you know those cats
that rock black suits and bowler hats
Playing Jack Jones tracks in our stolen Jags
Holding stacks of ice like the polar caps
A new night another heist better guard your stash
Run upon Guy Ritchie for his cards and cash
Thats the snatch! Paparazzi cant relax
Al Fayed wont rest till my yards been trashed
Ive been drinking all day but Im hardly smashed
On safari, asking where the partys at
Braintax!

Brando Flux:

Im coming with a box of stones
The Pink Panther does the picking and he spots the clones
Im like amazed, give him props and accept the cash
Im off to hustle through the Alps on a ski resort dash
Watch the name splash: Howard Marks, deposit box, same bank
Say thanks security the safe cracks open, last bash
Now Im stood looking at my last cash
And Im considering the options I could load some hash
In Morocco at the stash by the customs check
I thought Yasser paid em off but Im a nervous wreck
I take a valium or two and we relax, sail back
Juggle tourism and rap and make money in the gaps.....
Like that!

^ BRAINTAX ON THE BOARDS!!!!! You can't beat a bit of Jehst.

This thread needs a shout out to the man Louis Slipperz. I was all over his tenner bag mixtapes when I first got proper into UKHH.

Too fukin right he's nut's did you see the MTV Cribs of his gaff it was fukin ace he was so down to earth n funny permenantly blazed as well

Aye, I fucking love it. Must have seen that about 20 times. His fucked doorbell, mate passed out on the couch & his "wardrobe" (big pile of brand new clothes on the floor haha).

"Boy I'm lyin, I'm just tryin to make cheddar
Cause my doorbell is rubbin two wires together"

Redman keeps it real. Only rapper that could jump on a Christina Aguilera track at the height of her pop career & come out looking more G'd up instead of looking like a sell out! Yelling out "BRICK CITY!" on that track was fucking quality.

Yeah i was wondering why a B Boy like yer self%) don't post in the Hip Hop thread you should as you are def down with all thats good .

It was one of those threads that I just got behind with, like 10 pages behind, so couldn't be fucked catching up & just never got back in about it. I'll need to soon.

THIS! It's like watching a movie.

That is a great track, heard a few scottish mc's but he is definitely miles better than the ones I have heard.

I added a couple more.

Aye he stands out because you can't fault him lyrically, plus his bam accent comes across a lot better to me than the William Wallace efforts you often hear from Scottish rappers. A lot of Scottish rappers sound like they're putting on a fake Scottish accent whereas Loki clearly just raps the way he speaks.

Nice guy as well. Not a bam at all, despite the accent lol. I think he's like a social worker, or community outreach type cunt nowadays.

I'll put up some more tracks by him later, some of the deeper ones where he talks about his junkie mother etc are incredible. Again... if you can get past the accent, which I can understand people not being able to. It doesn't really sound right, but it's the same as the first time I heard English hip hop, I thought it sounded pish till I got used to the accent.

Nice Touch some regional Hip Hop the beats are really good .

Luckily i can get the accent easy Loki is easy to understand .
]Never heard of him till this morn.

On Mr Loki that's a Craig G sample "i can write it or recite it off the top of the dome" not sure what tune def . Criag Though.

It's a Big L sample. Off Flamboyant.

Unless they both used the same line.

Edit - Aye, it's def a Big L sample, just pitched down slightly.

Must have both used it not exactly complex haha.
Mind you Craig G may have used it first seeing as he been around since 85.

Yeah i hear the big L MVP sample

Your right that is Big L i def heard Craig G use the same line.
