Bupe High-Dose Suboxone Not Helping Withdrawl/Cravings... help?!

@ dopiate (nice name btw) what dose did you taper down to? I went up to 24 because I was still feelin icky at 16 after 2 weeks.. ugh.
But i still feel nasty on 24mg... i dont know if I should go up, or go down or just change meds altogether.. but I guess the doc will know tmrw...

All i want is to be stable so I can actually live my life. But alot of people prefer to look at me (and other clinic-goers) as stupid junkies who just want to get high.
the whole reason im in the clinic is to be stable and not going crazy and having my life revolve around pills. But I seem to face much opposition with some of these people.

The largest problem with me was lumping Suboxone in the opiate category. You take more opiates, you get more effects. This may be true, but I maintain that the dysphoric (bad) effects scale in an even greater way. You may get greater CNS effects but you also get even greater negative effects (headaches, nausea, myclonic jerks, sweating). What I did was taper 2mg/week until I was down to 4mg per day and I felt worlds better, and I'm not alone here. After a few months there I dropped down to 2-3mg and stayed there.

Doctors are so misinformed on this matter, and how could they not be? They take a short course, fed directly from the pharmaceutical company, and they are sent on their way with a skewed dosing schedule. Prescribe more pills=sell more pills, the doctors are none the wiser. Research yourself and let your doctor give you advice on anything but suboxone. There are some knowledgeable addiction docs but the other kind are a dime a dozen.

Sub only has the potency of about 30mgs of methadone at most... Some people have some habits that sub will not kill all the withdrawal but definitely MOST of it...

the less is more theory is more about reaching the ceiling with the least amount of dose needed daily...There is a point where the receptors level off and taking more BUPE doesn't not increase its opiate effect ...

where as dosing more than necessary definitely creates more unwanted side effects from my experience..

I have been on sub for years and usually found after about 2 weeks stabilization occurs and with some experimentation u will be able to find the "magic " dose to keep yourself at the ceiling with best results overall..

Once u realize taking X amount is all you need then taking Y is just pointless and a waste
