High dose Methadone not working like it should

So I am on MMT at 315mg dose every morning. For like 6 months not and I can't even tell that I dose any more. What can I do? I'm really starting to struggle.

You’re not really supposed to feel things on MTD. You’re supposed to be able to function somewhat normally and not be overcome by cravings and thoughts of using. If it’s not a metabolism issue, then honestly your tolerance and dose is now just too high and some provider dropped the ball by letting you get to that rather absurd dose.

Yeah it's kind of like what's the point because this medication is no longer doing what I needed it to do. And what it DID do for months ya know

You mentioned wanting to nod out and get constricted pupils etc. This is not the point of MAT and you have now pushed it to where you are no longer a great candidate for it, both because of your dose and your attitude. You should try to engage with some the members here who have used MAT appropriately.

If you want anything out of that dose - rather large one, at that, i could recommend adding kratom to the mix to get some of those feel-good alkaloids covered. benzos are always a good mix with opioids but i cannot safely advise that, due to respiratory depression and that high of a dose of methadone. a few xanax bars on that dose can easily put you under & stop your breathing.

coming from a non-judgmental place, it’s better you want to get high off methadone, rather than street junk, as at least you’re staying alive and any quality of life is better than being dead. you can try mixing gabapentin/lyrica with it or like i said, some kratom for those 20+ alkaloids being activated, that kratom tends to interact with besides mu activity.

i’ve heard of things like BSO(black seed oil) helping with tolerance, as well as memantine (there’s a LOT of good articles about memantine & opioid tolerance here on BL)!
there’s also another rc out there that’s called ‘SR-17018’ that you can swap to for tolerance breaks. there is a ton of good reports on SR-17018 that i’ve read and it’s promising.


either way, yeah that’s a pretty high dose and i’d imagine it’s making you a bit flat, and i understand the craving for some sorta euphoria to hit. again, this isn’t medical advice at all, and if you’re going to add other respiratory depressants into the mix, be sure to tell someone you are using so they’re aware in case something were to happen to you.
