high dose 2cp (20mg+) dangerous?

I've been experimenting with several psychedelics after coming off an SSRI

(lexapro) about a month ago, and discovered that I seem to have an unusually

high tolerance to the serotonergic ones. I assume this is a result of the SSRI

treatment. Hopefully the effect will diminish eventually, but in the mean time

I'm tempted to push the doses higher to gain the effects I want. Recently I

took 20mg 2cp orally, and tripped only moderately for about 6 hours. I noticed

some mild vasoconstriction in my legs, but nothing particularly bothersome. Is

taking more 2cp than this likely to produce negative physical effects? Thanks.

Welcome to bluelight.

You might have come up with this yourself already but I think that the chances of side-effects like vasoconstriction will only increase. If you are desensitized in your CNS that may not necessarily mean the same for your PNS, so perhaps you get physical complications before you even trip right off of it.

My advice to you is if you recently discontinued an SSRI you should be more patient and not fuck around with high doses of one of the rare 2C-X compounds that can you can actually overdose on relatively easy. 2C-P may be among the 2C-Xs with the smallest therapeutic index (dose margin), even if it is not the most potent one.

Try other compounds instead if you must and give it some more time to regulate your serotonergic system again. Do you want to risk causing something along the lines of clinical depression? The answer is probably: we don't know, at least I haven't heard about such very high doses of 2C-P before but I am worried already.

It also sounds like a great way to induce side-effects associated with SSRI discontinuation although I am not sure if the time to risk that has passed already.

I really wouldn't push the dose on 2C-P. I have heard too many reports of negative reactions to even slightly higher than normal doses. Some people can take high doses okay, others can't - and some of the can'ts are experienced trippers who you'd think could handle such a dose. 20mg of 2C-P is already a really high dose... Keep in mind that you don't know how fast that SSRI-induced resistance will last.

I agree with Solipsis, that you'd be best off to wait longer for the SSRI-induced resistance to wear off.
If you must push the dose with a 2C, Don't push the doses with 2C-P or any of the 2C-T-*'s, as they are far less forgiving than the others.

Yeah, I guess I suspected laying off the 2cp for a while was the best choice. I knew SSRIs

often weakened psychedelics, but didn't realize this effect persisted as long as a month after

they stop being taken. Does anyone else know anything about this; would the effect be

likely to diminish, if so how long might this take? Is there a chance this desentitization could

be permanent?

i don't know a lot about this subject but you are correct that it would be somewhat surprising given that the half life for lexapro is like 32 hours...

still, 20 mg is so much more than people typically take for a mild trip that it probably does have something to do with the lexapro.

so you should probably wait another month then try with 10 mg. your "hard headedness" will presumably decrease with time but not at a regular rate.
