high-cbd strains for medical use?

i have been reading up on the new movement in the medical community to breed higher cbd strains (harlequin, cannatonic, etc) for treatment of certain medical conditions and my interest is piqued. i've never come across any of these strains here on the east coast but i am moving to a medical state soon and hoping that i can get ahold of some high-cbd oils to hopefully help with some health problems - generally auto-immune type symptoms (skin problems like rashes and acne, insomnia/poor sleep quality, low energy, muscle and joint aches/stiffness, anxiety, etc), nothing seriously life-threatening or anything but things that do seriously effect my quality of living, and have been very resistant to the plethora of other treatments i've tried.

reading about the high-cbd strains interested me particularly because a lot of these symptoms were not as bad when i used to be a very heavy smoker, but during the last few years i've cut back a lot because i dont like being high all the time, and the symptoms have gotten worse. cbd can treat a lot of these problems apparently so my thinking is that back when i was smoking all day every day i was getting a good dose of cbd, which helped my symptoms, but being so high from all the thc was starting to make it hard to think clearly or get anything done so i cut back on smoking and a lot of the symptoms then got worse again. so the idea of being able to get a good dose of cbd without being baked out of my mind all the time sounds very appealing.

so i was just wondering if anyone has experience with medical use of high-cbd strains and had any input?

It's true. I'm all about the high CBD strains, they are a Godsend. I'm blessed that my dispensary carries 2 different CBD strains at all times. They (the dispensary) have a grower who does nothing but grow the highest CBD content herbs he can manage, and each batch gets more refined.

Most herbs average around 1% CBD, if even. Sativas have the least by far, Indicas the most. 5-7% CBD is considered to be an extremely high content, my place has somehow grown 2 strains that test above 10-12% (almost unheard of). For all I know they've broken the 15% mark by now.

Basically CBD reduces anxiety. It doesn't give you that "stoned" feeling in your head. In fact, if the buds have the right ratio of CBD to THC you'll wind up with a very clear head, and an oh so nice relaxed feeling. Great herb for anybody who suffers from chronic anxiety, GAD, panic attacks, a high pressure job, social anxiety or insomnia. Pretty much useless for people looking to get "fucked up".

One of the best herbs to help you through a stimulant comedown btw.

Yea man. I'm a massive proponent of weed. I cut out oxy and methadone after my surgery, within a few weeks, and the mix of cannatsunami with its pretty high THC content and CBD content, mixed 70/30 with some awesome weed... it is amazing for my pain. truly amazing. My doc asked me why I was still taking pills and told me to stop, and I was like, okay... are you cool with me smoking weed. She was like "definitely, if I wasn't part of this HMO I would be suggesting it to everyone."

The only issue for me is smoking mid-day makes me pretty damn sleepy. I haven't really seen to many oils or concentrates, straight up, but I have seen pills and tinctures and things like that.

Try to find a Sativa that you like. Blue Dream is an obvious choice, as is Silver Haze or even better Super Lemon Silver Haze. Or if Sativas can be too racey for you try to find a nice Hybrid. Edibles will make you too tired. I find Oil to be a great day-time smoke, it doesn't wear me down--however it is inconvenient to smoke out of house, unless you have one of those pens.

My Doctor knows I'm a recovering Heroin addict and he too has zero problem with me using cannabis. When a Dr. is telling you to stay away from prescription drugs and that herb can be very beneficial for a huge percentage of people you really start to question our medical system.

I got access to whatever I want at the weed-store. I usually go for sativa dominant hybrids, but still, CBD strains just make me soooo tired. If I cut it too much with regular weed, the CBD weed serves no purpose. I've really been working on my ratios and my mixes. It also adds this new fun element to weed. It's a whole new field to experiment in, which I never thought I'd have an opportunity to do again after 15 years of smoking.

It is. I can't imagine going back to the stone age when you had to sit in some sketchy parking lot to buy whatever your connection had. I never dreamed I'd have my choice of waxes, I was always limited to the quality and quantity of concentrates that I was able to produce, which wasn't enough considering I'm not a grower.

As more and more CBD strains are being grown, there are going to be some really interesting genetics. I have a lot of ties to professional breeders and grow-ops and I didn't know that a lot of the CBD strains are actually random genetic mutations of normal strains. Every couple thousand plants - if grown from seed - will have an absurd amount of CBD. Now that more and more labs are being set up to test CBD, it's only a matter of time until growers start paying attention more. Even indicas, you never see anything about .5% CBD. Most sativas are like .05%. I'd like to see some bomb ass 5% CBD on a great strain. Unfortunately, the CBD 'high' does counter the THC, so I doubt they will be popular amongst stoners trying to get as high as possible.

It's really cool to hear someone else chime in about CBD strains, Blind Melon. Most people think I'm absurd spending the same amount on CBD strains as THC strains, but then I mix them a 90/10 or an 80/20 joint and they all say the same thing "damn, all the edge has been taking off." Like I said, I now have a whole new aspect of weed to dabble with. The whole mixing thing could be a future wave considering blending in wine is very popular.

This one new lab is being set up in The Bay that is now going to start testing for CBN and CBL. It requires incredibly precise equipment because their in the .001% range, but non-thc - natural - cannibinoids are the future.

Yeah, I can't wait for the future of cannabis. You're right, these new genetics we're a few years away from are going to be crazy. I'm super lucky bennyZA, I go to a dispensary that stocks usually 2 top shelf CBD strains along with CBD strain activated almond milk. I really do love the stuff, but I usually keep an indica at hand too, like you said. In fact, I don't know what I'd do if my current dispensary shut down, they must have the best genetics in town, it would really suck to go back to the dime a dozen short lived operations.
