High, above the law

I truly have sympathy for the woman; but nothing is more annoying to me than grieving mothers going on a rampage to avenge their children's death by calling for further infringement upon our freedom. It won't do anything to bring their child back, and somehow society feels they "owe" it to the mother to ban the substance that her child overdosed on -- so it will probably end up getting banned.

Its clear that this woman isn't in a rational state of mind because she's grieving deeply; she can't possibly make an informed and rational decision about the implications of the policy change she's calling for.

The Western head Mother archetype is a horrible creature. On one of the radio stations in Grand Theft Auto III, they have a spoof talk show with such a character, "what do you mean, can you back that up?" - 'I'm a mother: that means I know more than you".

The anti-poppy seed tea website and that 'reaper chat' (kid who OD'd in the Shroomery chatroom while others watched his webcam) are good examples of Mother's on their soapbox. They've been trying to co-opt the nation-state to be a surrogate mother for a long time. The original Prohibitionists against alcohol and later drugs/narcotics were mostly women.

Won't somebody please think of the children!

And to the poster a few posts up, yup GBL is indeed very nice imo, as long you avoid addiction/overdosing, its much more an enjoyable experience for me than most (if not all) of the legal highs.
