Hey,
I'm 34 years old from Ireland. Still fighting the fight with drug addiction. Have had many good periods of being clean and well. Often found myself on this site over the years and decided to finally register. Looking forward to becoming a member.

Currently back on heroin around 6 weeks and hoping to not have to go on methadone again. Has been a dark 3 years for me.

So hello :)

welcome :)

recovery forums can be very useful for support and to find good advice.

why are you hoping to not go back on methadone?

Hey.

I did a methadone detox and benzo detox at start of the year. Whatever it is about collecting methadone everyday, liquid handcuffs and heroin sickness is just less hassle. Having says that, if I needed to, I would.
Was hard coming off it and when I was on it, I kept using benzos and anything else I could get my hands on.

Congrats for coming off of methadone! I imagine it must have been really difficult especially considering you did a benzo detox as well.
I did detox from methadone but it took ages until I felt reasonably well again. I still think methadone is much harder to come off in comparison with any other opiates. I believe you can start over since you've been through so much already and know what to expect. Not as difficult, but probably more intense in the first week.
Good luck!

Hey. I recommend trying to taper your H use and then switching to kratom, wds will be very mild at first. This is the only way I've been able to quit without methadone or subs.

Hi, sunkissedirishgirl and fellow Bluelighters. I'm a 31 yr old (female) from Ireland also. Longtime lurker (15yrs!) - very occasional poster. Went through WD's off Oxy and Palexia last year but finding myself using on and off again when i can get them. Was offered methadone last year but I decided to go it alone. Would be great to talk to some like-minded people, especially in Ireland. PM me if you like.

hey. Thanks for reply. Ive never heard of kratom? Ive called a detox unit, so I might just bite the bullet and go in there. It wouldn't be much a of detox, just a short heroin sickness but im kind of in that mental obsession at the moment. I was clean a couple years and this relapse has lasted 3 years with so many attempts.
I don't recognize myself anymore :(
do you mind me asking what your situation is?

hey :) great to have an Irish girl. are you 15 years lurking on this site?? hahaha oh I had a rough stint in the oxys. How are you getting on now? I was 2 days off heroin and the sickness I felt today was quite bad. So I scored.
Have never heard of palexia?
my account here is only new, I don't know if I successfully accepted your friend request?
Its 4.20am now, I don't sleep after heroin. Really trying to stay away from benzos because they just add to the madness.

Pm me or even just reply on here, whichever suits xx

Hey again sunkissedirishgirl. I PM'd you back there. I signed up around 15 years ago but I only visit every once in awhile so I'm not that much of a lurker/stalker haha! That would be weird.
You should try Kratom, I used to get it on this really good reliable website but I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me. It's been driving me mad, but there's lots of sites, even eBay apparently. Think it may be illegal in Ireland though so be careful. I found it great for awhile but eventually it started giving me massive headaches and nausea/vomiting but my stomach is fucked so you might fare better. I'll warn you though, it tastes absolutely horrible but it can be great for energy and relaxation at the same time. Do a bit of research on Bluelight and elsewhere to see if it might be for you.
Also you could try poppy seed tea but it didn't work a jot for me and your tolerance is way higher from heroin I'm guessing. Poppy pods would be better but they're hard to find and expensive. Other than that you're left with doing a CWE on some OTC painkillers which I just messaged you about. Won't do much for you other than keep the wolf from the door but it'll prob stop you going into full blown withdrawal until you can get into detox. Again, search the site- the info here is invaluable. Stay safe x
