What's up guys I'm new to blue light my name is josh I'm from Pennsylvania I'm 20 years old addicted to heroin. I've been using for almost 2 years via the needle. Started out w/ vics percs morphine etc.. Anyway I went to a methadone clinic Thursday and talked to a counselor who ended up reviewing my insurance, make me sign a paper, and took my piss. They made copies of my I.d and insurance card & told me they will call when the drug results are in. It's been 3 days since.. Is this the usual wait time? Idk what to do at this point bc my withdraws are becoming worse and worse, help please???

Josh

Hi Josh,
Good to have you here!
How are you doing now? Can you take any other remedies in the interim? I can recommend some if you don't have any. I started with percs then onto Heroin myself. Took methadone briefly also. I'm sorry they have not gotten back to you. One ime usually initiates methadone sooner than 3 days. I don't know where you are but it's Sunday where I am. I would check in with them in the morning, whenever that is for you. _/\_

Thanks for the info smoke, I'm feeling ok today as I scored some more H?.. I have tramadol also but rarely do I take them unless need be. This morning I called the clinic & they told me they will call me when all is good. Hmm wonder how long they'll keep me waiting..? Can I ask some of the remidies that worked for ya? Thanks bro ☺️

Josh

Sure, I hope they do call soon. I've used tramadol for withdrawal before… took the edge off a bit but not much. Of course Clonidine and/or Gabapentin help but are prescribed. Cough medicine really worked for me (not for all but for me), as well as Loperamide, L Glutamine, lots of amino acids and multi vitamins (especially B6, C). L Tyrosine is helpful and some other nootropics. Benzo's helped the most but they are very addictive.

Basically, if you have to wait again you won't have to suffer so much if you stock up, at least on some OTC's.
You'll want to drink a lot of fluids also as you might know, and eat a lot prior.

Check out the Thomas Recipe if you have a second too :)

I could get benzos (kolopin 2mg) but they make me feel sick the next day for some reason I'd much rather Xanax. I'm gonna look into the loperamide & L glutamine as well as tyrosine. Maybe they'll help instead of scoring more H. I am starting to really like blue light it's very informative!!? thank you for the advice dude ??

I'm going to move this over to sober living :)

Hey Josh.. im sorry I can't way in on time frame. Congrats on starting to pursue your recovery!!!:D

Im not trying to put you off in any way. Methadone has the ability and has proven an amazing stepping stone for many. This drug is no fuvking joke however. It ranks among the most significant. Here is some really good information about this drug.

If it were me I would hold your dose to at or below 40 mgpd and I would combine this with quality addiction counseling and I would tapper off (2 to 5 mg once every two weeks) as soon as you create the changes in yourself necessary to do this<3

Methadone is a great alternative to quitting cold turkey and as others have stated a great resource for recovering addicts. You will always meet the sub group who is boarder line conspiracy theorist in ideas. Methadone doesnt do all that crazy stuff people claim it does like rot your teeth and make you fat. Sure some people have dental issues and I am sure addicts have more then most but correlation is not causation.

The clinic I am at doesnt have a wait list or anything you just need to qualify. Its not even an abstinence clinic so as long as you are meeting goals and going daily theres no consequences. But this also makes it harder to get off in a sense because they feel all of their patients should be on it almost indefinitely. I basically told them my life is awesome and once I am done with them i am done. I am actually going to start a taper now, Ive been on 90mg daily since December, that is also the average dose at my place and they frown on lower ones. But their policy is your recovery is your choice and you can choose to leave or taper whenever, that doesnt mean they dont do their best to discourage you in a sense at the end of the day its all about money.

Also be sure to attend groups and stuff at least to try sometimes they do help. Its up to you to do your recovery how you see fit. Some people go to groups all day some dont others are on methadone for decades others for 6 months. Recovery is such a personal thing take peoples advise but try everything for yourself. The more armor you have the less likely opiates will break through.
