I have hung around here since about 2005 and I love this site. It has spared not only myself but my teenage nephew and his friends a world of hurt. I am completely chill with them and they tell me everything. I love opiates and so do they (16 + 17yrs.) I NEVER contributed but learned that these guys were mixing xanax and methadone which i knew they had no idea what they were getting into. .I dont like benzos but the opiates I get. So I got on here and got the straight of the dangers of that combo and even learned what the hell K2 is. I used this site to caution them about dependance since teens wont get it till it happens to them. I also convinced them that K2 is a waste. They cut their pill use way way down and mostly stick to real weed now and beer :) Im 30 and already the new generation has come up with almost legal ways to get hi ontop of the old ones I knew to look out for. Im working to be a probation officer and I am determined to promote harm reduction and programs that work for addicts ..like me only on probation :) I use two weeks a month and lay useless the other two. I'll ditch the pills if i get the interview... .

Welcome. I could imagine someone like yourself having a really big positive influence on this site and good for you wanting to be a probation officer and really making a difference.
I on the other hand get more joy out of putting people down than helping them haha ;)

Anyways I look forward to see you around.

Thank you ! i'm preparing by watching lockup marathons... ha ha.
I am sickened by the justice system locking up addicts and overcrowding prisons which become breeding grounds for HIV,STDs, Hep B, C and so on.. (no access to condoms or clean syringes is fucking retarded) They often leave prison much worse off than before. My hope is to divert them into a sober community by offering support and encouragement not judgement. I will use this job to try and nail home the fact that an addict does not always mean a criminal. Prison is just not the place for them, probation sucks but maybe i can make it more useful.

However the flip side of the coin for me is my secret affair with morphine and oxy which i get 120 of each every month and i can make them all dissappear in a matter of a week. Nobody knows. Nice thing to tell the board who interviews me, maybe ill pull a trainspotting and just lay it on 'em! Regardless I use huge amounts never losing tolerance keeping wd at bay w tramadol in between and feeling like shit the rest of the month. I am a highly functional addict I just cannot ration worth a shit.

Opiates are so hard to hold on to......I am either on maint.(which I'm on right now) meaning I take 5mg's of hydrocodone every4 hours, or I'm using...which means I'll take morphine IR's, oxy, hydros at will whenever I feel the urge. Welcome to Bluelight and try and keep the opiate addiction under control while you still can.

I agree 110%, it is so refreshing to hear this from someone who works for the system. We need more people like you, and then positive change will be inevitable. %)
