Hi, all-I'm obviously a newbie, and an "oldie", a child of the '60s raised in SF...

When I was young and dum and fulla...whatever that was called, I did a lot of things and was close to the inventors/discoverors of many fun and enlightening things...now in my old age, my body is unfortunately even older than my years can believe.
I have been disabled for about 15 years, have several lumbar and abdominal surgeries under my belt (excuse the pun), and in the recent years, since 2005, specifically, I have found it VERY hard to find the pain relief (sched II meds) I need, in the amounts I need d/t the restrictive changes now in place.
I do all legally, and have for decades now, especially since I became disabled. Sure, I've tried the MJ brownies, and the occasional "try this", etc., but does that really count? It was for the most part, far from pain relieving...except for Stadol, which I haven't had the pleasure (relief) of being prescribed.
I have lived on Maui for the past 30+ years (don't be jealous-I am used to that reaction-believe me, it's a much better place to visit than to live). Anyone jealous is but a product of aggrerssive marketing. I am selling out and moving to find a REAL PM doctor than KNOWS pain and how to treat it. IMHO, one can not be found on Maui. Does anyone disagree?
My arachnoiditis is likely the worst pain generator I have, although the various conditions I have that make gravity a serious contributor to my significant pain in the arse is a close second-and even a first, if I'm upright too long, leading to R sided paraspinal status spasmoticus. I was a paramedic by profession, so I do tend to use medical terminology and abbreviations, however good or bad that may be on this site; I'm sure I'll find out, and adjust to accordingly.
I am looking for feedback (I sure hope this is not called "sourcing", as I don't want to break your rules) from anyone who lives with constant intractable pain that has found a PM M.D. that, as I said, KNOWS pain and how to treat it. Medicare and Humana (part D med coverage) is VERY restrictive, also. I will move anywhere, except to a major city, as I can't afford either the rents or the mortgages there. Also, I am a rural kinda guy. I have even considered moving out of the country as an option. Pain is a major motivator.
Is anyone out there sympathetic/empathetic to my "cause", or at least of like mind that I can brainstorm with?
I want to thank all of you who made it this far in what has become a bit of a soliloquy. I'm in unusually severe pain this month d/t to an abrupt change in meds because of the beaurocratic mess, so I'm surprised I'm actually doing ANYthing right now!
I actually have come to believe that meds, aka "drugs" s/b legalized. A garden of poppies s/b legal for personal use, especially if chronic, untractable pain can be demonstrated. Wow, that brings me back-I haven't even heard of opium being available in decades. Maybe just because I've been playing the "good boy" routine, which has led me to believe I can't get no satisfaction...I dunno. Feedback is certainly welcome. I rarely join sites/participate in forums. This one just seemed appropriate. I wish you all the best and hope for the best!
Sincerely,

Before moving from CA last month, i had been advocating for disabled Americans for the last 5 or so years. This was mainly battling it out with the SSA but we also tried to assist in our clients access to quality medical care. I am available, not sure how much help I can be this far away. I'm sorry you are having problems with proper PM, it's an epidemic. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting worse, but there are still doctors out there that refuse to be bullied by the DEA, they just don't advertise for obvious reasons. PM and I can at least send you somme numbers as starting points.

Welcome, btw!

Oh, and we're you a pranker? On the bus?

I can't empathize myself but one of my best friends, my aunt (who is about 40 years my senior) has a debilitating disorder that has had her on methadone for two decades. Without the meds she probably wouldn't be able to walk. Nobody can criticize except those who have no idea. I sympathize with your cause even if I don't have a clue myself.

That being said, painkillers are my drug of choice. Not by necessity so much...

Welcome!!! :)
I am sorry to hear about your pain. You were fine in your post. Sourcing is asking for hook ups to drugs,Drs,sellers,buyers,ect...
