Hey Moderators.. what'd the deal???

OK, I know that nobody is poking at my job, but up until Thursday I had read every post on the board. I took a day off on Friday. What follows isn't meant to sound defensive or harsh in tone, just some observations on where we are at the moment.
Here's the thing. A while ago, it was established that topics in the Aus/Asia/NZ Drug Discussion Forum should either
a. Be directly related to drugs, drug health (oxymoron?), drug culture, or similar
or
b. Be funny. Real fucking funny.
Most of the posts that have been suited to Rave/Meetups, or other forums, I have tried to move. So we're not doing too badly. With regards to the Bedtime story post, it's been attracting quite a bit of attention, and while not directly related to actual drugs, features them heavily in a fictional sense and in my opinion is quite hilarious. There are some other threads which I've seen that are more 'borderline', so I've left them here to sink into oblivion way down the board rather than be accused of acting like a "kid with a new toy" as someone once said and wanting to immediately pounce on anything that doesn't have a drug related reference in the title or first sentence.
Now, with regards to the board moderators, it's well known that JB is busy at the moment, and that's cool with me - in fact, that is the reason he asked me to moderate... because his spare time was becoming a premium commodity and he couldn't dedicate quite so many hours (and believe me, even on a fast connection sometimes the hours are high) to the board. I haven't been in contact with Anjele yet, but I understood she was having connection difficulties etc., and thus can't look at the board. Up til now, I've been more than happy to indulge my enormous bluelight addiction and spend hour after hour online reading all the posts, searching for tidbits of information related to the topic at hand, and so on. A vote has been mentioned in the "Pinger is Caesar" thread, and I am about to start a new topic to call one. Reasons will be enclosed.

oh mona puleaze... you made very valid points and more power to you for doing so. it only shows how much you care about the board. i'm sure the only reason you brought these points up was for the good of the board and not to have a go at anyone...
i think it only goes to show what a great standard we have here, that 3 or so off topic posts stand out, aren't moved/stopped immediately, and piss old timers off...
when i was working my crap old job i would spend 4 to 8 hours here everyday. and it wasnt so much the amount of time it was the fact that i was on here so very often. if someone posted something OT i usually picked it up straight away, and having nothing better to do i would jump right in and move it or tell the person it wasnt appropriate. often it would get moved or deleted before anyone else had even seen it.
this was a good thing for BL as it gave the appearance that everything posted here was on topic and great... and few people saw crapola for very long... mind you it was a very sad indication of how fucked my job was, and truth be known i'm glad in may ways i don't have the time to do that anymore.
i guess what i'm saying is unless there is someone who can dedicate the time (ie almost 24/7) to modding this board, and part of me hopes no one has that much time on their plates, we should all just take on a little more responsibilty in keeping the place tidy, and also cut a bit more slack for mods etc...
this is what i was getting at when i refered to everyone's ability to remind people of the rules. sure you cant move threads, but you can politfully stop them, and bring them to the attention of mods who might not have seen them.
this is everyone's forum. i think we should all think of it as our home and know that, sure we could leave our sstuff lying around, knowing that Mum (the mods) will pick it up, but it is sometimes more satisfying to take responsibilty for ourselves....

I was discussing recently with someone how many parents often want their kiddies to do what they want them to do. And that this can get in the way of whats best for everyone.
Moderators are doing a good job of keeping things tidy and providing the info for others. But the opinions of some moderators (and ummm jb you can highlight this point for me beautifully) are not necessarily representative of the general bluelight community.
Moderators have generally been chosen by sticking their hands up, hence a general consensus is not there.
I'm not saying this is a wrong method of selection, props to those that volunteered way back when. But just a reminder that you aint a presidential figure. Sometimes jb it just doesn't seem like you are typing from a level. My opinion.
 
er so we dont agree on a few things pope, does this mean i've been doing my job badly? well don't worry i'm pretty much gone now so you wont have to put up with it....
as for mods getting the job by putting there hand up, how else do you do it? force someone to do it? you can't ask someone to take on that commitment if they havent the time or energy...
notice the huge response to the "moderator vote" thread? people arent falling over themselves to ask for it, which is understandable because it is a lot of work.
the way i have run this place in the past is its my baby, i have never made any pretensions that i have worried about popular view. i believe that this nazi attitude of mine worked. but it's probably time for a change, and i cant devote the time to it to be a ruthless nazi... so it's up to someone else. or everyone else...
so yeah... enough bitching about me and lets start looking to the future...
 
Hmmm.. mona, point taken (regarding my post well I just posted into Drug Discussion cos I farked up!) BUT I find it odd that someone ADDS to a so-called improper post and THEN creates THIS post to bitch about it being in the wrong place...WTF?
Not angry or pissed off just puzzled is all...

My previous post has points to it. Its not a bitch. I'll try to rephrase some.
I never said you were doing your job badly. Once again let me type.. no I'll just copy and paste; I'm not saying this (taking first volunteers) is a wrong method of selection, props to those that volunteered way back when.
I just wanted to point out that due to the fact that this was the method of selection, moderators should not assume what they believe is best, is in fact best for everyone here. Not specifically to you jb. I just want the new mod to bear this in mind. And I'd like for them to be on a level with the rest of us. Status really sucks hard. And it just gets in the way of working things out, discussing things etc etc when someone assumes status over others.
BT I think is doing a great job as far as all this goes. Suiting me to a tee.

Perhaps a reason why there is so little response to the votes thread is that people don't want to have others viewing them as different. Thats the main reason I don't want to be a mod. No its the only reason. I think it would be good for all to have a WA rep.
Fuckman, I dislike the fact that I get out of mincing the ham at work. A job I could not possibly handle doing, but it means I don't have to work as hard as others sometimes. Makes me have it better than them.
So as it goes I don't even want to read that thread. Mod schmod. Close topics and give info. The rest of us (heh, check that? 'the rest of us' we be different you see) pretty much look after new bluelighter stuff aswell. And some even provide info.
I'm just saying you know?
Everyone hates traffic cops for the power rushes they try to get. And its easy for a mod to slip into this sort of thing.

my reply to w33t?whatever?was done on perpuse,mainly for the fact that id hope someone would close it.
He/She didnt hit a nerve with me,because words on a screen could never furt me,especially when i dont know the person,and they dont know any of us from a bar of soap!
So yeah sorry if i did the wrong thing by yeas,but i knew if i was harsh that it would get closed quik,and the people on this board,nice,or not so nice,are pretty much touchy about the things they do(drug lifestyle).
If someones starts to diss it,and come a monday morning when someone happens to log on after a nice big weekend.The last thing they would want to read is a shit post that would automaticlly,Takeing into acount the mental state there in after a big one(you know what i mean),people could easally just flame!
What i want that to realy say/mean is that people on this board are,either bent,Straight,Rolling,Comingdown etc,and we dont know what mood everyboady is in,and that should be taken into consideration when you guys look at posts.Maybe thats over the top,but just a bit of a suggestion!
