I've read on BL people talking about number #3 heroin and so on. What's the difference between number 2,3,4 China white etc. I know it's a silly question but I didn't know where else to ask
Thanks Stef

The numbering system for the opium poppy alkaloids is kinda dated and in my mind useless today and only serves to confuse people in a modern time. I am pretty sure it goes like this:

#1 is a raw extract of poppies so not refined at all so it contains a wide range of alkaloids and waxes.

#2 is refined opium so it is largely opiate based derivatives such as codiene and morphine

#3 is freebase heroin so it is not water soluble and usually smoked or mixed with an acid to achieve solubility

#4 is salted and used for water soluble ROA

China white is a slang term for fentanyl these days i think.

But really it would be best if the community moved away from these dated terms as we all have the internet and can learn the words free base, broad spectrum extract, salt form etc. I think that numbering system was made in like 1890 and it kinda shows, at least in the modern world. I may be wrong about 1 and 2 or hell even all of them because i dont use em ;)

Szuko000 I don't use them either but heard BLers talk about this subject couple a times and so obviously got me interested in the subject.
Thank you for clarifying things a little for me. And I thought China white was fent.
Man o man.. Now I don't judge but smoking a powerful opioid like fent is Russian roulette to put it lightly.. I had the patches and it was strong!! No wonder. I think allot of H overdoses these days are due to fentanyl or xylazine cuts. Heartbreaking to sq the least. Thanks again

I've always thought the numbering system was a cool piece of nostalgic junkie trivia. I believe it actually came from one of the big heroin manufacturing operations in SouthEast Asia in the 'Golden Triangle', as a way for them to label their product. I'd also heard that it was a way for the DEA to categorize junk coming into the US from Asia during the Vietnam War era.

I always thought that it went like this:
#1 Morphine powder
#2 Raw, relatively impure heroin freebase
#3 Heroin freebase
#4 Heroin hydrochloride salt

On the East Cost of the US, #4 is what you're going to mainly come into contact with, with a little bit of black tar showing up now and then. Black tar kind of blows away the numbering system as it's crude way of manufacture means it contains a bit of everything.

'China white' always meant 'white', pure, #4 powder and we usually referred to the good stuff as 'China white' in the mid-90s or so. I believe the reference originally meant that it was of Asian origin and white in color. Back in the day, the stuff from Asia was usually the best.

Over the years I did hear the reference shift to either fentanyl laced heroin, or just fentanyl. Not sure how that happened.

I agree with the idea of the numbering system being outdated. Also nowadays with the amounts of cut used in the powder east coast H the color 99% of the time doesn't signify the quality of the H.
