Ok, all you brave IV users out there, this is mainly a question for heroin users, but i am curious to know do u think most people that begin using heroin turn into full addict junkies? Can this drug be used recreationally, or does this drug pull u into too hard 2 let go? I mean i use, speed/E/K/pot, but i'm not an addict, most stories i hear where people try heroin once they become addicted. I so badly want to try this drug but am scared of the devil pulling me in. Can someone shed some light please? :)

Man when I was in rehab a few years ago...out of all the fucked up people around me the herion addicts were the worste....Time after time they would say that they fell in love with the drug the very FIRST time they tried it....I asked..well what does the high feel like??? and the phrase "It feels like your home" came up on multiple occasions....you should stick with the psychedelics man...A real herion addict is a sad sight to see....its the end of the road as far as drug addiction goes......
PS - I was forced into rehab because I took 15 hits of acid and freaked out so bad that I had to be driven to the hospital.....I know what your thinking....people dont go to rehab for acid...well I had also done E, Dust, Opium, Special K, Crystal, Pot, Hash, Shrooms, DXM, Nitrous......on seperate occasions....

So basically you're saying if i try it, i'll pretty much be hooked? I guess that's what i need to know. Is it heroin people get hooked on or injecting?

Will trying it ONE time turn you into an addict? The answer is no.
Most people that are addicted to H started off with lighter opiates and loved them. Then they tried H, which is a much stronger opiate, and they loved it even more and continued using..which develops into an addiction.
So before you try it, you might want to ask yourself these questions:
1.)Do already love other opiates like hydrocodone, oxycodone and other pain killers?
2.)Do I have a pre-disposition to addiction?
3.)Do I find it hard to use money wisely (things you need over drugs)?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, I would definatly reconsider even trying the big H-bomb.

If you are somewhat responsible, you arent going to get hooked on H your first time.

I personally dont find herion to have this super addiction factor. I got more strung out on meth I ever had on herion.

Thanks for the input... i just wanted to ask this as alot of people i talk to say, "how could u be curious about that dirty drug" or "don't touch that shit, you'll end up a junkie", comments like these make me think shit, should i shouldn't i? I've never got into pain killers or anything like that, i mean i love my bongs and pills that seem to smack me out.... ya know the ones where u can't move... and after watching trainspotting a zillion times gives me the urge to wanna experiment with this drug....

Ok, I have no experience with any strong opiates like Heroin, I have no clue what the high feels like, but I think you are making too large a deal out of this. Heroin is a serious thing (as most drugs are) however, I don't think Heroin has super natural addiction powers when compared to say Ecstacy or coke or whatever drug (yes yes it is more addicting then some drugs)
If you really have this little faith in yourself that you think you may get addicted from one time use, I'm sorry, but you don't belong in the drug world. I mean mental addiction here leading then to a physical one.
If you still want to try Heroin, do this:
Get a friend to pick up the smack for you and specificly tell him to get it from someone you don't know and have no contact with what so ever this way if your craving sets in you can't just go down the street and pick up a wrap.
Anyways, it's all about the person who is using the drug.
I used to have two great friends back in 7th grade, we smoked weed all the time. They got mentally addicted to weed, and went into rehab. One of them went in there three times before he finally gave it up, and now he is just a boozer. The other one I don't know what happened to him.
They became addicted to weed very quickly, they went from smoking dime bags on weekends to half an O every god damn day. They did not have much will power.
Bumpmek, to assume that if you try a drug you are basiclly hooked is shananiganz (sp). I assume you mean mental addiction here again because physical addiction is impossible from one time use. Some people have low will power, but I doubt there are many people out there who can say after using Heroin once they became addicted.
I say give it a go, and if you do get addicted it's your own fault anyways.

Try some "lighter" opiates, such as hydrocodone (Vicodan) or oxycodone (Percocet) first, to see whether it's your kind of high.
If it is then move yourself up through the opiate family. As an inexperienced user, I found my first use of heroin (smoked) to be far too intense, but I've since worked my up to the point where I'm quite interested in trying it again.

You wont get addicited to heropin after using onces - sorry, itdoesnt work like that.. you may enjoy the high and wishto do more, and this can turn into an addiction, but it's not possible to be "an addict" after ONE use, sorry, I know your DARE officer and guidence counsler would have you believe this but it's a bunch of crap .. as for how you do get addicited - simple, the opioid fills a void in your life so you continue to use.. physical dependance will set in (but that doesnt mean you're addicited!) and eventually you're psychologically hooked too..
Can you use it for recreation and not get hooked? Yes, we have many, many, many people in this very forum that do this - many were either unaware of heroin, or even against it before they started posting here and realized it can be a wonderfull chemical..
The only bearing IV use has over any other means is that you get a fairly intense rush, and this can be a little too pleasureable .. you also need less to get the same high - which is short lived, in turn, you may find yourself doing more, and using more often...
So, you seem like a strong willed guy - go ahead, try some and see what you think.. it's possible to keep it to the weekends, especially if you alternate between drugs (so it's not like you ONLY use heroin, you use speed one weekend, heroin the next, etc..) you also seem like you have good intentions - you want to use for shits and giggles, it's not like you just broke up with your girlfriend and your dad died, so you're looking for an escape...
Good luck! Remember, many have done it with no problems - probably a hell of a lot more then those that tried and got hooked!

Thanks, i appreciate the above post. :) I am a girl by the way, who lives in Australia & i guess the hardest part of this experiment for me is finding the shit, it's kind of a taboo topic here, not any dealer i know deals it and the thought of asking them i'm sure i would be looked down upon if ya get my drift. Thanks 4 the help :)

i'm not very experienced with opiates at all, but with the little experience I do have, i feel that they might be an acquired taste.
In regard to your 'one time addiction' question, I think it may be easier to get addicted to stimulants. Because there is no sort of uncertainty, even in the beginning.
Opiates cause nauseua (sp?) in many people. this is enough to thwart an instintaneous addiction. They used to (and still might) give the drug antibuse to alcoholics. It caused nauseau any time they ingested alcohol.
Now, I don't know about you, but nauseau is really one of the most unpleasent physical ailments. The LAST thing I want to do is touch any alcoholic beverage the morning or afternoon after a raging alcoholic traipse. And in the above case, it's strong enough to be used to condition a person against their addiction. And one must reconcile this with the pleasure that opiates elicit.
I think, in time, as your tolerance grows, the nauseua becomes much less of a factor in comparison to opiated bliss. But you have to let yourself get to that point.

sparkler brings up another point - for many, the first time using opioids is NOT PLEASNT! Many people puke so hard they feel their intestines being pulled back into their throat.. you know, the type of puking where you vomit so hard the little area between your anus and, well, whatever genitals you have in front HURTS.. ya know what I mean? That little spot physically hurts as though someone is smacking it with a hammer with each heave.. a lot of people don't that bliss and total disolve of any worries, problems or cares.. for many it takes a few sessions before they get over the nausea and having to puke every 15 minutes.. for others, opioids simply dont agree with them - an ex-girlfriend I had was like that.. she used and used and used but NEVER got off on them... then again, she was kinda wack in that she could od a line of coke and it was like 40 orgasams at once...

hahaha :) ...another testament to the 'female coke gene', huh?

Sorry, a recent study by some famous doctors concluded that 99.97% of females are addicited to cocaine - even those that have not done it, well, they are still hooked.. usually you can tell a girl that has not done coke because she is a bitch, but the problem is that after a girl has done coke, well, except for when she is doing coke, she is a bitch ..

No, definantly not. A few years ago when I first got into heroin, there was a huge circle of us using it. Everyone had their phase with it and like with other drugs everyone moved on and switched to something else. I'm only aware of one person besides myself that got back into it and really got hooked later.
One thing that I think also makes a difference is the method of use. I mentioned there was a large circle of us using.. we were all snorting. The only people I know that got hardcore into heroin really got hooked after they started injecting. (This is NOT to say you can't be hooked on heroin if you snort it, because that DOES happen). With myself and everyone else I know that shoots heroin, the rush of shooting is the big draw to using heroin, not the overall high itself.
Can this drug be used recreationally, or does this drug pull u into too hard 2 let go?
When I was first using heroin a few years ago, I used it fairly regularly for half a year. Just recreational use. Everyone else I knew that was using it was pretty much doing the same thing. One day I just decided to stop. The main dealer pissed a lot of people off and most everyone else just up and stopped, too. I'm not aware of too many people having a difficult time getting off it.
There are 3 big factors that basically will determine if you're going to be hooked or not. The first one is how often you use. If you're using it frequently and not giving enough time between uses, you're going to start to become physically dependant and your tolerance is going to go up. The second is how much you use. If you use more, you'll have the same problems as #1. And finally the third and most important factor is how much you like the high. If you really like it and want to make it your life, you're more likely to not care that you're an addict. Eventually you'll end up getting physically hooked then you have to combat withdrawal and such.
And remember, things you hear about addiction are often far from reality. With something like heroin, you truly have to work at it to make yourself physically dependant. It's not going to happen overnight. The psychological aspects of the heroin addiction are far worst than the physical aspects in my opinion. Heroin makes you feel REALLY good (once you get over the newbie stage where a lot of people feel sickish and really itchy their first few times). The second time I started using heroin, I enjoyed the feeling so much that I ust decided I didn't care if I became a junkie and I started using it daily and blew over $1000 on it in the first month.
I mean i use, speed/E/K/pot, but i'm not an addict, most stories i hear where people try heroin once they become addicted.
If you use a drug repeatedly, you are in some way, shape or form a drug addict. Don't kid yourself. Really, what's the difference between shooting heroin everyday and smoking pot everyday? They're both drugs, they're both being used daily. What matters is can you remain functional despite being an addict?
I so badly want to try this drug but am scared of the devil pulling me in.
The devil isn't going to pull you in. Only you are going to pull yourself in.
I've never got into pain killers or anything like that, i mean i love my bongs and pills that seem to smack me out.... ya know the ones where u can't move... and after watching trainspotting a zillion times gives me the urge to wanna experiment with this drug....
First of all, you really should start out with painkillers and play around in the shallows and make sure you can swim before you jump into the deep end.
Second of all, when you watch Trainspotting, pay attention to the parts where they show people going through withdrawal. It's not cool. I have no idea why the fuck people romanticize the shit.
Here, I'll tell you of the glamors of being a heroin addict!
I drive about an hour out to go to the city. Once I'm in the city, I drive to one of the worst parts of it, an absolute ghetto. There are little children playing out in the streets. Half the apartments on the street are boarded up. Sitting on the porches of the occupied apartments are the kid's parents. They holler and have me stop and their kids watch as they sell me heroin. I drive off. At the first light I come to, I pull the cap off a water bottle and put about 75 units of water in it. Then I put my heroin in the cap. The light is probably green by now so as I'm driving I'm scrunching up a cotton and drop it in. The next light I get to I roll up my sleeve and try to stay low as I shoot up trying not to be too obvious since there are people in cars next to me. Then I drive home on my merry way and usually shoot more dope and nod off in my chair, wake up early in the morning and go back to sleep. Finally I'll really wake up, either because I don't want to waste my weekend sleeping or because I have work. Then I'll shoot up that morning to start the day. After just a week I'm out several hundred dollars. Then I periodically put myself through withdrawals to lower my tolerance enough so I can afford to go on another couple weeks long binge all over again!
Anyways, if you want a more realistic view of a junkies world via a movie, watch Bullet. It's got Tupac Shakur in it, so it's extra hardcore as well!
I know your DARE officer and guidence counsler would have you believe this but it's a bunch of crap
DARE officers are experts. I heard about this one DARE officer who knew that there were two types of ecstasy.. MDMA which is a cross between amphetamine and mescaline, and then there are Doves and some people prefer Doves to MDMA.
Remember, many have done it with no problems - probably a hell of a lot more then those that tried and got hooked!
This is definantly true. Despite my own story, I really fit into a minority segment of heroin users.
the type of puking where you vomit so hard the little area between your anus and, well, whatever genitals you have in front HURTS.. ya know what I mean? That little spot physically hurts as though someone is smacking it with a hammer with each heave
What the hell causes that anyways? Not that I ever get it for no apparent reason or anything.

you will not be hooked your first time unless you want to be. if your looking to pick up an addiction then it can rule your life. but no , you won't be screwed your first time. Like others said before , many people take to much and get sick thier first time or just plain don't like it. what effect it has on you as a person comes in to play with addiction.

I'd say, if you don't puke, be afraid... I seem to be THE cast iron stomach (my super hero power...). I've puked ONCE from heroin and it was a long time after I had been using- was probably sick from something else. Pills, wack chemicals- never upset my stomach. I think this has lead to problems in the long run.
Couple of things- no, you won't become an addict after the first time using H. I remember the first time I did it, I was pretty pissed for ever worrying about doing the drug. You hear SOOOO much about it being the worst thing you could ever try. I think that sets you up for not giving this drug the respect it deserves... The first time I did it, besides absolutely loving it, I was like, what the fuck is the big deal. I did it every once in a while after that. You CAN become physically addicted to Heroin quickly though- that doesn't mean you're an addict. I mean, the second time I did it, we binged for a couple of days. After stopping, I definitely had withdrawl. I thought it was just the flu- the flu, yeah, dope flu. Didn't make me want to run out and buy more though.
Every once in a while turned into once a month- then every weekend- for the past several months- every day. I've kicked a couple days here and there- and withdrawl is AWEFUL! But unlike the first few times, I knew that scoring "just a little" would make the incredible pain go away- so that's what I did.
Right now, the wife and I are tapering down... (no, that never works for anyone either but what the hell). We're not super users by any means, but we do enough consistently that when we go clean, it sucks ASS for a good week or so. Once the physical effects are gone- say hello to the mental side.
I love smack. It's the (second) best drug in the universe. Unlike E though, you can always do more smack to get back to the warm fuzzies- maybe that makes H THE best drug in the universe... :) gotta think of that some more.
Bottom line- I'm not giving it up- EVER. But I do realize it's good to get off of it every now and then. It's expensive- you generally need to go to the ghetto to score (not always safe), sometimes you suddenly find that you're hooked and you dealer can't supply- that's when it hits you the hardest... Just happened the other night- one of the reasons we're kicking again. That was a wake-up. "what the fuck do you mean you aren't holding???!!!" This of course, was after we did all we had left. Ugh! That was 24 hours of hell. I will not street score anymore so that was not an option.
Anyway, I like H. I'll be doing some this afternoon as soon as my wife gets home with more. I was a chipper and would like to be a chipper again. It IS a slippery slope for many. The high is just that comfortable- and you can work, walk, talk, FUNCTION on it, so for some, it's just easy to medicate and be done with it.
If you try, just try and be smart about it. I know lots of people that tried it and that was it. For some, it WILL be a never ending love/hate affair.
For what it's worth- I don't think it has anything to do with the route of administration- you can become hooked smoking, snorting or banging. Though, with banging, I think the rush provides that extra element of lust that may make it easier to become hooked. Smoking and snorting can be just as bad- don't kid yourself.
Fuck, I'm rambling...
bottom line- it's a GREAT drug. Just give it some respect- be smart. Don't be surprised when you wake up two days after not having any and need to puke, have the shits, and the worst backache you've ever experienced. Just know that you can make the pain go away two ways- time, or score...
doc

all i can say, i have been on methadone programs and have had an opiate problem (mainly heroin and dilaudid for years( 8) . but i have to honestly say that the time when i became addicted wholly was the first time i stuck a needle in my arm.... if you can do dope without falling in love with the needle, then u might be okay but once that rush comes on, its over!!! i mean since shooting dope, i've shot oxy's(which is not recommended), coke, crack, mdma, tar and white dope, dilaudid, even diazepam which is not water soluble, because i wanted to inject myself...
stay away from needles!!!!
