Heroin Tolerance.. how can I get it down?

^^^
True not EVERYONE who will try heroin will become a junky...but I know so many people here on bluelight can attest to the fact that once you start using it "recreationally" or just to "feel better when you're down" any point where it starts to get on a semi-normal usage you should just exercise a tad more caution. As far as personal experience goes, ask DnkHrb5 who I personally know...ask her back like a year ago when we met if either of us at the time would ever think we'd be saying this very shit right now, about how easy it is to slip into addiction.
I'm not saying it will happen to everyone by any means, I'm just saying that it's a very common thing for someone to say, "it isn't that hard to control my use, i just use it when i feel like it" and before they know it fall into daily, physically dependent use - but again, it's possible to avoid, just be careful...sorry this has gotten very redundant.

PiLLcrazZzeD if you can do what u say great. but your pattern of usage indicates that you ARE on your way to becomming an addict. Ask any addict if they thought they were addicted or would be addicted when they used like you do now. Nobody sets out to get a habit. It took me 6 years to develop one and i used less frequently than you.
One thing is for certain tolerance is an indicator of physical addiction. The only ppl i know who can refrain from being full blown addicts after years of use, are those who use like once every 6 months. I know you will tell me there are exeptions, there are. But they are in the minority.

physical dependance and pschological dependance IMO the former will in most ppl, cause the latter. Its a case of classical conditioning. when i get physically addicted to opiates i am also psychologically dependent at that same time as my body hurts so i need more opiates to stop it. When I am not addicted (physically) I do not go through withdrawal symptoms, simple as that.

If tolerance is a certain indicator of physical addiction, then how come I'm not suffering from WD? I do have a tolerance but believe me I'm not suffering. I do understand that when you're dopesick, you would want to take more to stop the sickness.. I've gone through WD from OC after a few weeks of continuous use, but the moment the pain comes on I did not even think about taking more opiates because I knew it would screw me. I knew if I just take it for a week it would be over. I guess it all depends on how you think. I've never gotton a single sign of WD from heroin though, maybe because I've never used it constantly? This sounds weird but I'm glad I had a taste of WD from OC. Because now I know how bad it can be and to use with caution. I don't use it recreationally because in the long run its a high price to pay for a crappy high.
DnkHrb5 and Thurgood, I understand it can be easy to slip into addiction.. but I don't feel like every post about heroin should have a response of warning the user about slipping into addiction. I feel that if someone choses to use heroin, they already know what can happen if they are not careful. And if they become an addict, its their own fault. It's not heroin's fault, because they know what they are getting into. Whether or not the majority of users end up as addicts.. I don't know. All I know is that its usually the addicts who are the loudest, always thinking they are being a fucking hero by warning you about the risk of addiction and where you'll end up. I hate when these posts turn into something unintended..

Like I said, lets not get into it...

I don't currently use opiates to the point where I develop tolerance or addictions. The point was that after using them multiple times a day for months and then quitting it seems that my tolerance has permanently been raised slightly. 10-15mgs of hydrocodone has never had any real recreational effect for me beyond some floatiness of the head. The very first time I took enough of any opiate to realize "wow, I'd really like to spend some more time feeling this way" I took 25mg of hydrocodone. For a long time that was my base dosage, because I only used occassionally. After using massive quantities of it though I've found that it takes about 35mg to get me to that same spot that 25mg used to. So I guess my point is that my tolerance seems to have been permanently raised.
