This is my first post - Unfortunately I have a feeling it might be in the wrong section, in which case forgive me. There's quite a few rules and its hard to get all of them right.
Secondly this question has been somewhat answered but there's always a lot of confusion in those posts and they're very specific. For instance I'm attempting to find out the answer so a post saying "exact same thing happen to me" isn't very helpful unless you let me know the outcomes. Also I am very aware of psychological risks and investments involved so please avoid preaching. And thanks for the help in advanced!
So I shot in my inner elbow the other day. There wasn't any pain but I also forgot to loosen the tourniquet which is never good. Today I woke up and my whole arm felt stiff. Its tender and painful if I bend my arm or apply pressure to the area or my lower bicep. Not exactly were I shot up, but in the vicinity there is clear bruising and the red/purpley patchiness that accompanies a blown vein. It is also noticeably hotter than usual (relative to my other arm and from memory). It not an abscess because the area where the needle actually went in is very clean and only has a tiny red dot where the needle actually penetrated. I'm wondering if I perhaps did more damage than I'm aware of and when should I get worried/possibly see a doctor?
Secondly if you wanna add to your post - Basically as someone new to the "sport" of IV'ing (haha) what is the damage you can do, the main causes, treatment and prognosis. As an example, how does one get gangrene and whats it look/feel like/when should you see a doctor? I know its a lack of oxygen to an area. I can definitely see a blown vein causing this but blown veins happen relatively frequently where as gangrene does not. Another example - how do you and what kind of damage to nerves can one do? The more the better but also try and answer my first question if you can.
The more information the better and thanks a lot!
