Heroin: Dost thou now not reap what thy hast sown??...

It is a continual source of disturbance and upset to me that on a board like bluelight which should be a supportive environment for users to raise questions and discuss issues that there is so much perpetuation of misinformation about heroin and its use, and just downright userphobia.
Yes, heroin users do commit crimes to support their habits. But international research has clearly demonstrated that where users are provided prescription diacetylmorphine (heroin) their involvement in crime drops to virtually nil. It is an injust drug war - not heroin or its users - which places users in a position where we must engage in illegal activities to support a habit. in the context of prohibition an analogy with nicotine dependence is irrelevant, because if a nicotine smoker gets desperate they can walk down to a milk bar and buy cigarettes at a reasonable price.
while withdrawal is "flu-like" at larger doses users experience hallucinations, fitting, the digestive system breaks down almost entirely, every muscle in your body screams with pain. it is very fucking hard, its not a myth.
to develop a dependence we don't need to be emotionally unstable - as with any drug, users use, and become dependent, for a whole lot of different reasons. in my case i live with a serious, life-long illness for which in the past i was provided no where near the level of pain relief i required. others are blocking out emotional trauma, and some just use to relax andhave fun.
and its not as if we are all turned into anti-social misfits. heroin users have led the struggles to inform our communities about HIV, hep C and overdose for the last ten years, with well funded user groups in most countries. these groups are often leading the fight against the drug war which affects all users - regardless of drug of choice. as a dependent person i conceived, initaied and coordinated Ravesafe Melbourne, now in its fifth year - booked for basically every 2nd weekend this summer, under a new team and one of very few ongoing raver health outfits in this country.
divide and conquer is a classic tactic displayed again and again throughout the 20th century by corporations and the state in their attempts to break up social movements.
other users are not your enemy - the fighters of the drug war are. consider talking to your user group and reading our literature, you will probably find it enlightnening
in response to the original question - byron st footscray, bourke st cbd, and springvale rd springvale are your best bets - probably between 10:00 and 16:00. cap prices tend to go through a cycle in these areas - the deals get cheaper and tinier until they are practically worthless, then go back up to $50 and decent amounts. footscray and springie are mostly on $40 - $50 at the moment, which gets you around .08. its hard to describe taste in words - it should be bitter with a metallic aftertaste.
the best bet for scoring from these street markets is to watch who other people are buying from, and what they do afterwards. if they're selling shit they are likely to disappear from the area pretty much straight away after a sale.
when put in water, good gear should break down to pretty much clear. there is a lot of chalky shit at the moment though. so long as its not going to total glug, and several other people purchased from your source, its probably slow.
