HEROIN: Black Tar Quality and Amount for Ingestion

a friend just picked up 6 balloons of black tar heroin. Smack A: tar in one ballon is very pliable and a very dark brown almost like very moldable hash. Smack B: In other balloons I got some tar that was a light colored brown, less pliable and just more of a varied brown in general consisting of little tiny specks of brown. This friend got it all from the same dealer so maybe it's just drier? Is one type described of better quality? Is there some rule of thumb?
From my own observations I would say smack A is better because of its rich brown and it's very soft texture.
Each balloon is a dime bag I'm guessing because my friend payed $50 and they gave him 6 ballons. MY friend started smoking the stuff today and tomorrow he will attempt to shoot it for his first time. What is a good amount to start with? I'm guessing just start with something small, maybe even a 1/4 of a dime, a 1/2?

My first time I shot up I put about 1 1/2 "ballons" or whatever you call it in your area in a spoon, cooked it up and had fun for a hour and a half.. I would say in my opinion do $15-25 worth... start off with $15 and work your way up... of course you should not inject illegal narcotics into your veins but we all know it's fun and entertaining :D
I never bothered to sniff or smoke the stuff.. all I can tell you is that you or your friend may possibly vomit the first time.. but hey!, you'll be warm & fuzzy and itching like a mofo.. :)
and PLEASE use clean and safe syringes and sterilize everything and use alcohol at the injection site (cuz' you don't wanna have track marks like I do)
 
Black tar can only be effectively shot, as far as I know.
I don't think it's ever a good idea to tell someone a concrete amount of a drug to use. What I would do is shoot a very very small amount and judge by that amount's effects. If you feel nothing, double it.
 
Why is tar dangerous for IM and SC injections? I IMed tar heroin many times before I started IVing.

Aja...thanks for the advice on dosage but I think I'll do a little like Bong said b/c this shit could be a lot stonger than anything you have done for all I know. I just don't feel safe banging $15 a once because it *looks* like good shit even though it took like 1.5-2 balloons each to get high smoking it.
Blahblahblah...BELIEVE me if I could get some #4 powder, I would but it's not a viable option and I can't very well have my friend ask his dealer for a powder hook if he only sells tar ya know?
Effigy...I believe it's bad to use tar SC because of the impurities and consistancy of the shit. Why it is any better to IV it is definitely arguable. From what I understand tar leaves NASTY absesses under your skin if you do it SC which results in some pretty sick physically obvious signs of heroin use. Most people just tend to go for the less superficially damaging IV method which is most likely worse on your veins.

First, IGNORE THE ADVICE OF THOSE THAT RECOMENDED YOU DO A SPECIFIC AMOUNT! Tar heroin varries in quality greatly, so it's impossible to give someone advice on what to shoot ...
With that aside - you can also smoke it, this could give you an idea of how potent it actually is..
IM/SC heroin? Huh? Why shouldn't you do this? Well, if you want to go for the junkie look, go for it - yeah, it hits over a few minutes and lasts your average length of time, but the next day you will have a HORRIBLE BRUISE, a few days later that will fade and you will have a diseased looking yellow mark (it looks like a horrible infection) .. if you're using needles, IV!
 
oops I forgot not to tell people to do a certain amount (so yeah I appologize for that)
and it is true what Phreex said.. the quality can vary greatly from purchase to purchase..

Tar is even scarier then power in terms of it's potency.. I have had tar that was so weak it could have been passed off as opium, and I have had some of the Mexican Mud tar that you only needed to cook up a little the size of the head of a pim, any more and you're not breathing.. the funny thing is, I paid MORE for that crap then I did the Mud.... it's just that saying "do $15 wortth" could be fatal...
