what would u say is the minimum number of times one has to inhale per minute ?
because its scary when i take a good portion of smack and almost dont breathe (!!) ...

well im happy i made someone laugh..
but i dont know whats funny when u dont know if u are ODing or what...ive been doin H for about 7 months now and its fucking hard to tell ... the stuff is always different and sometimes there is euphoria sometime there isnt... and when there aint any u think u need more and ur dead...
and a good portion = too much... thats what i meant anyway..

I have no idea about how many breaths you should be taking BUT I've had a few people OD infront of me, & when they come round they always are like "huh, what do you mean? I was fine".
I've never ODed, so I dont know how you'd feel, but it seems that you'd be feeling fine then (hopefully) wake up clueless as to what just happened.
My best advice is not to use a new batch alone.

placid -- To give you a serious answer, it's hard to say. It depends entirely on how deep you're breathing, how long your breathing is depressed for, etc.
I know what you mean -- I did one bag of smack a few weeks ago, same batch that my friends had done and said was normal strength, and I OD'd... I was unconscious for like a good hour. My friend said I was down to like two breaths/minute, and I don't seem to have suffered any adverse effects. Can't tell you more than that.

I should also add that my breathing eventually became virtually imperceptible, my pulse dropped, and my friend performed mouth-to-mouth on me to make sure I got enough oxygen. I awoke at the end of the hour with my hearing muffled -- like I'd just been at a really loud concert -- my vision blurry as all hell, and with a terrible splitting headache. I briefly mumbled something to my friend about what had happened and promptly passed out again (breathing fine this time) for another few hours.
I consider this an OD -- I wasn't just really high and nodding out, I almost stopped breathing. And what's more, I wasted the entire fucking experience except the rush -- I was unconscious and so got to enjoy none of it.
 
No.an OD doesn't always mean you need medical attention. Its when you consumed an amount of a drug where the effects become unpleasant or painful. You can od on shrooms.My friend did and had a seizure. I have ODed and smack. I was cold and trembling all over my body and a shower took care of that.
I agree that the term OD is mostly used when death is possible but people overdose on drugs all the time and live. Hell , you can OD on pot and most major weed smokers would agree with me on this.
 
OD on pot??? AHAHAHHAHAHHA before you post a reply, you should know what youre talkin about. maybe if u smoked for a week straight without stoppin, you would OD or die cuz your lungs would just give out. other than that, you can NOT OD from pot.
 
just do a line of meth... other wise go easy on the dope man... Anyone know the formula for calculating your blood o2 level?

If you think ODing is uncomfortably feeling the effects of a drug then ODing is a lot more common. In fact, if that's your definition, then giving yourself way too fat of a shot of heroin and dying wouldn't be ODing as it probably isn't too uncomfortable (this is just guessing here, but I can't imagine being all that uncomfortable while opiated). It all depends on your definition!
 
According to one of my toxicology textbooks, the normal adult breathing rate is 8-14 breaths per minute. In opioid overdose respiratory depression is defined when breathing rate is 8-12 breaths per minute, depending on source. So, this is still in normal range. However, breathing rate in normal range isn't necessarily enough to tell you that you're ok, since hypoventilation secondary to a reduction in tidal volume (the total amount of breathed air is reduced) may precede that due to respiratory rate depression.
 
i knew some douchebag would say you can't OD on weed but you can. this forum has gotten really gay so I think I will go post in ODU where I don't have to deal with these fucks. People have a right to critize , but it seems like only the morons do.
All I see are people bashing legitimate questions. This forum was made for asking questions. If your a know it all , then why bother to post.
I still stand by my statement that an OD doesn't always mean your near death.

well since u can OD on weed in your opinion how would u go about doing it since the LD50 for pure THC is about 42 mg/kg((rats) inhalation)?
 
Od on weed? I assume that your just being a technical ass here. It's possible of course, but very unlikely. I could Od on water, but it's just not going to happen.

err.... ODing on H is uncomfortable. I've seen people come around on the hospital bed and they didn't like the feeling one bit. One friend said he got really nauseous and began to panick but it was like he couldn't do anything about it. apparently everything went dark and even though he would try he couldn't open his eyes. add to that he felt like he was suffocating and was pretty certain he was going to die.
So no I don't think ODing on opiates is all that pleasant a way to say "goodbye cruel world"
