heroin addict, may be pregnant

Of course, but what other way is there when the person in question can't stand doctors?
The position to take would be to try and convince them to go to the doctor and the fall back would likely be to try and maintain on other opiates however they got their hands on them. That being said there are few people in that situation who would read past the first line of your post.

get on methadone i know a couple baby mothers that used meth an there babies didn't go through any W/D's not saying that your baby wont but theres a good chance he or she might not..and methadone is such a safer drug to take while pregnant because the consular and doctors support u.... as a personal experience my girl was using percs at the time of her pregnancy and our son did not go through any withdrawal

OP can u please follow up and let us know what your going to do and how it went even if you dont take my advice or any others advice I would still like to know what happened thanks.

Honesty with the doctor will yield the best result. Just be ready to give up all drugs minus methadone which I can say with near certainty they will place you on in order to slowly wean you down and off of your opiate addiction. Two they will not be able to legally seize custody of your child once born if you go in, you are honest and you follow their recommendations on what to do and how to do it. This also will provide you the opportunity to essentially become free of drugs, because they will perform mandatory UA 's, swabs, blood draws, and hair follicle testing and will be able to detect other illicit drug use and if detected they may report you to law enforcement who will jail you in order to protect your unborn child, also earning you abuse and neglect charges and drugs charges. But if you do as they suggest your baby will be born as healthy as they can manage and a vast majority of the time the limit of issues at birth is a percentage of babies are born addicted to your drug and they will have to suffer through withdrawals and the second most common issue would be low birth weight in babies with a mother who is an addict... Truth is a startlingly enormous number of infants are born to mothers slowly quitting and recovering from a controlled addiction. These mothers were once in a situation such as yours, many coming from situations much worse. Take pride in your desire to do whats right for your child and your future family together. Please see a prenatal caregivers very soon, there are many free and low income providers that will work with you and help you if money is an issue. I will keep you in my prayers hun and pray that you and your special someone find happiness together and that your child is born strong to sober, healthy and loving parents. I pray for that you will find the path that is best to take and that fortune favors you in all good that you do :) God bless and good luck!

There is a lot of REAL advice in here wether you like it or not, now is the time to grow up. When my addiction was active it was all about me, me, me. It's not just about you anymore. Go to a doctor FFS! Get a real pregnancy test, get on methadone, be pro-active if you wanna raise this child. Honestly, it doesn't sound like your ready so think about your options before its too late.

There are so many disturbing, judgmental posts in this thread. Bluelight is meant to be a place people come to get accurate harm reduction information. Do you really think someone who is pregnant would bother posting again, given the abuse from some of the posters and moderators here?

The most danger to the fetus is from withdrawal. Being stabilised on methadone or bupe is the safest option. Continuing to use means that you'll end up putting the baby under a lot of stress. Not all babies born to mums on methadone or bupe are born dependent. And if the baby is born dependent, it's a very simple process to withdraw them with oral morphine. It's not the end of the world despite the hysteria of lots of posters in this thread.

You need to get proper medical care as soon as possible. You are more likely to get into trouble with child protection services if you try to hide and manage this yourself. Front up and get some help.

Actually the reason that people are posting this stuff in here is because OP said she does not like doctors and won't go and she doesn't want to stop using drugs. That is completely irresponsible but more than that just completely unfair to the baby. The OP should not be allowed to be a mother and I can only hope that if and when she does have the baby that it will be taken away by child protective services.

She said she hadn't been to the doctor yet because she hates them (albeit a poor choice of words) and because she is unaware of the laws concerning the situation. To me this is nothing more than a scared and misinformed person. As for you saying "she doesn't want to stop using drugs", she clearly asks for help in quitting and even mentions how she has looked for suboxone but it is hard to come by in her area. Asking for information on how the drug may have effected her developing child also shows that she does care what happens to it.

Her decisions insofar to not go to the doctor and take more concrete steps towards her health and the health of her baby are undoubtedly poor, but berating her and the blatant libel of saying she doesn't want to get clean have likely destroyed any chance we had of actually helping her and her baby.

In the past I've aggressively defended against the defamation of people asking questions about ridiculously dangerous drug practices (such as shooting bath salts etc.) in that they have the right to non-judgmental information on the topic to reduce harm to themselves. I wish I could say I have done the same in this thread but the less than choice words of some of my fellow moderators have made it difficult.

I hope everyone who joined in on this attack realize the time spent on their angry rants which drove the OP away was not worthwhile. The end goal is likely they will be even more scared of going to see someone for fear they face even more contempt.

Next time try a heartfelt "I really care what happens to you and your baby and because of this you need to go to a doctor right away" instead. I know this is Other Drugs and not The Dark Side, but if you aren't talking about the scientific effect and properties of the drugs on the baby and delve into the social and moral aspects, pretend that it is.

I'm not here to judge you. I agree with leaving the personal attacks out and sticking to pertinent information that would help out the OP. This website is for harm reduction.

All of that being said, the OP is not giving herself or her child the best possible chance at healthy life if she refuses medical treatment. Coming off dope is a harrowing experience (I've never done it but I've had friends who did) which is incredibly rough on the body and the mind. Trying to deal with that in addition to being pregnant is a really bad idea, not only for the fetus but for the prospective mother. Adding an addiction to crack and whatever else... girl, you're cruising for a miscarriage.

I'm not here to judge you. I won't judge you, because I'm not you, I'm not in your shoes, and it's just not right to judge you. I can only urge you to seek help, whether professional or spiritual or even a good friend who'll be there for you, because this is not the time in your life to be alone.

I am sorry for my overly inappropriate post. I didn't say that the OP would definitely chuck their kid in a dumpster, but the fact is, if the OP cannot even go to the doctor because she is pregnant, and wants to continute smoking crack and shooting dope, what makes you think she is fit to raise a child? The sad reality is tha tmany people in her position DO fucking throw their kids away.

I gave her the advice to go to the doctor, and get on suboxone/methadone and take the steps to do the right thing.

My apologies, but my opinion still stands.
