It's common knowledge that smoking tobacco speeds up your metabolism.

Does smoking or vaporizing herb do the same to your metabolism?

I have heard from a lot of smokers that it does.

You get the munchies because all that food is going through your system at a faster rate and that causes the endless appetite.

Entirely based off of rumors and other people's opinions fyi

The reason you get the munchies is because smoking herb produces endocannabinoids (which research shows help to regulate regulate hunger), they send the same signals to your brain that cause you to feel hungry that you would have otherwise produced naturally, and as a result, you may feel hungry when you really shouldn't.

That however is not related to metabolism, and there is no scientific research that proves or disproves pot increases or decreases metabolism that I know of.

And i also disagree with this. Nicotine Just reduces your hunger, similar to the way MJ increases it...

I don't know if pot has anything to do with metabolism...I know I get bad munchies, and if I eat too much and too often for a period of time I will gain weight. I have heard it does before, but mostly from the skinny kids whom I think were just trying to defend being skinny.

But pot does increase your heartrate right? So wouldn't it than indirectly increase your metabolism a little bit?

Pot can cause tachycardia, but during chronic use it causes mostly bradycardia. This increase in metabolism or decrease is mostly negligible.

Correct. Activation of CB1 by endocannabinoids is involved in feeding regulation/habits.

This however, appears to be untrue.

thats a debatable subject. but even if it does, if your planning on useing pot to help you loose weight, you WILL be unsucessful seeing as how bad you wanna eat. pot wont help you loose weight, but it does help with many other things

wasn't there some study done where people who use a considerable amount of marijuana are actually skinny like it does help them lose weight or keep it off, even tho you get the munchies but im talking about smoking alot of good.. and also is it true that tobacco raises your metabolism..?

Tobacco raising you're metabolism is due it being a stimulant afaik.
I've heard about cannabis speeding up metabolism and that's why you can eat so much when you've got the munchies and no gain weight. But i've never seen any studies or anything on it and have always just assumed its a myth?
