Hi guys

I'm a bit worried. The other night I was over at these dudes' house and we were all IVing methamphetamine. Anyway, one of the dudes who was sitting near me, took his shot and then threw the needle, but the needle pricked my arm ever so slightly because my arm was resting on the table. This guy HAS Hepatitis C. Now I'm worried that I may have contracted it due to his carelessness.

It was a very small poke. Nonetheless, the needle still poked me and he does have Hep C. What are my chances that I now have contracted the disease. I feel really worried. :(

Thank you for any advice.

Its possible, get tested(local health departments usually do it for free). I'm pretty sure I would murder someone if they hit me with a syringe. Who the fuck throws a hypo?

This. Somebody throws a fucking syringe, let alone a used one, anywhere near me and it actually touches me? They're loosing teeth.

Anyway, yeah.. of course it's possible for you to have contracted something. A needle from an infected person pierced your flesh.

Get tested just to be safe.

It barely pierced my flesh. It pissed me off but I didn't do shit. I mean, could you tell me the likelihood that I could now have Hep C?

^This site may help. You can have your question answered by (supposed) M.D.s. One of the doctors wrote that there is a .3% chance of contracting HIV from a needle prick, although I'm sure the odds of contracting HEP varies compared to HIV. Still the only way you can be totally sure is to get tested, for not only your sake but the safety of those close to you.
Getting tested really isn't a big deal, my clinic required it of me even though I've never touched a needle, and like I said above most health departments are required to do it for free.

I just saw the 24hr doctor clinic. He said the chances of contractring Hepatitis C is from what occured isn't great. However, it's still possible. I also talked to a psychologist, and he said his wife did a dissertation on blood-born viruses, and that the chance of contracting this shit is under 10%. Apparently she had empirical evidence to back that claim.

I'm still stressing about it though. The doc gave me a "baseline" test for Hep B, C and HIV to cover all bases. I have to go back in a week for results. However, the results from this needle stick Hep C screen gets done in three months, because apparently that's when the virus can first be detected.

QUESTION: Does anyone here have Hep C? Did you get over it? Is it painful?

Micheal 25, I dont think I have hepc, but my dad , mom and step dad had it , dad died from unrelated cuases as well as step dad, but my mom has been healthy for over 25 years with it. She does not drink or take tylenol. It seems like a very common disease nowadays, I hope you dont have it , but I dont think its a death sentance either. Good luck!

Thanks for the well wishes, Pete1891 :-) I just read on the Net, that the transmission of HEP C from needle stick injuries is roughly 1.5% -- quite low. So that lifted my mood a bit. Still, it's constantly on my mind.
