Me: not a drug user, just have known a lot of them. New here. I'm helping a family member (he lives with me) get off suboxone and get clean; he came to the decision to get clean on his own.

He was addicted to heroin about 4 years ago. Was put on subox by a clinic to stop heroin use; gradually got bumped to very high dose (which seems to happen with subox). The subox eventually had him feeling dope-sick half the day despite the very high dose he had. So he recently decided to get off everything. And made a plan to do so: use oxy (currently 90mg/day at day 10) to get the subox out of system, use Methoxetamine to control withdrawal symptoms when going cold turkey off oxy. Will have enough Methoxetamine for about 5-6 days. Then absolutely nothing.

I was with him when he relapsed a couple of months back; went off the subox and used heroin. Going back on the subox caused precipitated withdrawal: I literally held his hand for 2-3 days straight. He was in agony. (Kudos to the MD who started a subozone forum - we wouldn't have made it without their page on Precipitated Withdrawal). I assume the withdrawal from the oxy will not be much better. But at least it won't as bad as the precipitated withdrawal - that was hell. Came inches from calling 911.

I've read a lot of posts by longtime Suboxone users stating that getting off suboxone was 10X harder than getting off opiates - the withdrawal symptoms are claimed to be much more severe. There's no way he's going to 'taper down' from the oxy. He's honest enough with himself about that and I think he's right. He says he can tolerate puking his guts out and being hellishly sick for a few days, but will never make it through a gradual tapering.

The hope is the Ketamine analogue will work better than clonodine, immodium, and hot baths. But I need to know a lot more. Will post something on the B&D Methoxetamine thread as well.

Can clonodine and immodium be used safely with Methoxetamine? Is there anything else (such as Benadryl) that should be avoided? What are the warning signs that the Methoxetamine is causing life-threatening side effects? Can you become addicted to Methoxetamine in 5 days? Etc.

Would like to hear from anyone who has used Methoxetamine to deal with opiate withdrawal. PMs welcome.

My thanks to the Moderator!

Just bumping and hoping. After nearly 6 years of opiate addiction my closest family member is ready to go cold turkey in a week or so. Since he'll be counting on me to help him through the ordeal, any help will be appreciated (see above). He's not likely to be in a state to make rational decisions for a while - like when to call 911 or when to take more clonodine or benadryl or Imodium. Most especially when to back off on the Methoxetamine! So he will be relying on me to help with those decisions and trusts me to dole out the meds. I'm between jobs so I will be home 24/7 through the worst of it.

The Methoxetamine threads seem mostly focused on recreational use, so I chose the Healthy Living section as it seems more focused on being and staying healthy.

You're free to ask about my own drug use, but it's all pre-1978. So unless you want to hear how we had to walk 5 miles to cop, through 2 feet of snow, uphill both ways, with wolves nipping at our heels... :)

Anyone with experience using Ketamine or Methoxetamine to ease the symptoms of opiate withdrawal, please post or PM.

I can only use PM 1X every 2 hours, so please be patient as well.
