Im interested in peoples opinions on what meds have actually worked for them. Have made them anxiety free, motivated & generally happy with life.

I'm not talking about anything addictive. so that includs benzos/opiates which i still probably wouldnt feel fully satisfied with even if I had as much as I desired.

I read a recent artical with a study saying that people are having the most success with Lexapro & Zoloft with Effexor & Mirtazapine also rating well.

I've tried a few meds and am starting to loose hope that there is something out there for me.

Is there any real success stories out there?

I see I havnt had any responses yet.
Maybe I'll just get some fucken Valium or Lorazepam.

I've had some success (not complete) on Fluoxetine (Prozac). I started on 10mg and am now on 60mg. Looking back its a huge difference, especially with anxiety. It's not perfect but its something.

Maybe you've already tried this, but if you haven't, it might be worth looking into.

I wish you all the best. Life can be beautiful once we learn to see it that way.

Much Love

Eat healthy, exercise and get good, regular sleep.

PLEASE ATLEAST TRY TO DO THAT BEFORE SEEKING MEDICATION!

..

Phenibut is great for depression / anxiety.. but it is also addictive (im in month 3 of daily dosing :\)..

Lol, were you threatening BL with becoming a benzo addict because you didn't get responses?

After I was at my worst mental state I had ever been in, and finding that antipsychotics nor antidepressants were helping any more, I decided I needed to drastically alter my lifestyle.

I started eating a lot better, getting out more, got employment and most importantly cut back on ALL drug use. Everything I had been using was holding me back from getting well. Going clean for six months helped me organize my life. I went to counseling and with that started challenging my anxiety and depression head on.

And finally, after years of suffering, I'm free from it all. :)

Seriously, taking a big break from all unnecessary substances, seeing a psychologist, getting work or finding something else to help fill your time and working on a relationship are all great ways to help yourself get better.

Olanzapine works wonders for my anxiety and depression, but I also have bi polar so an antipsychotic may not be appropriate for depresion/anxiety alone

^Alcohol is not an effective anti-anxiety medication. It provides short term relief followed by much worse long-term effects.

While it is common for people to self-medicate for anxiety with various different drugs, its not recommended that barbiturates, opiates or amphetamines be used for anxiety.

He also asked for things that aren't addictive. ;)

OP, the truth is, most effective anti-anxiety drugs are addictive...

its true, people want a quick fix when there is none. *snip*. improve your life and youll get better.

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread, OP, if you see any reason or have other information to give please PM me and I'll be happy to re-open it, but it looks like opinions have been given....there is a wealth of information in The Dark Side and Healthy Living regarding living with anxiety disorder and/or the possible negative side effects of anti-anxiety medication.

Thank you.
