My name is Jarrod i have a beautiful wife, and child. I have been on narcotic painkillers for hip and back pain since I hurt myself at work at18 I am now 37. 5 years ago I entered a methadone clinic as my Dr who was prescribing my methadone couldn't go any higher with, his prescription. I have been at 115 mg for a long while now and it is really the only thing I've taken that helps the longest with the, pain. I've had shots, nerve blocks and therapy. I've been perscibed almost everything through the years lortab Percocet morphine before methadone. My problem is the 500$ a month I have to pay for my clinic. I financially cannot afford it anymore. No other Dr in Virginia will see me without being off methadone for 6 months. I had a massive heart attack at 26, I have a defib and, pacemaker inside my chest 25% of my heart is what I'm working with. What can I do? I don't want to die but I don't and will not put this financial burden on my family anymore. Any suggestions would be appreciated... I have Medicare only and my clinic of course will not fool with it. Thank you.

Jarrod,
I am so sorry that you are in this situation. It is a SHAME that chronic pain patients end up at the methadone clinic.
I would call the patient advocates at Medicare (I just had to do this with my insurance and they were very helpful)
and tell them the problem and I bet they will find you a Doctor that will take you without the Methadone detox or a program that will pay for it.

Your body is too injured to go through that. Try the advocates and see what they can do to help you Jarrod.
I have chronic pain too and the advocates really pulled through for me, I am finally getting the help I need.
( you will find the number on your insurance card, once you get to customer service ask for the patient advocates)

God Bless, I will be praying for you.

Welcome to the site, so sorry that your going through so many problems.

If your doctors put you on methadone for pain and then they want you off methadone before they can re-asses your condition surely they should be discussing a detox or tapering schedule?

We have a pain management section over in Healthy living where I feel your post would be more suited to get some advice. I'm unable to merge your post so please feel free to copy and paste your post over there also.
