I would like a bit of help with a rather odd project, which I started recently ‘by accident’ I suppose, inspired to do a doodle of ‘The Methfaery’ one night, by something rather obvious. She turned out so well, I put my pencil aside and got my paints out (for the first time in years), and quickly became more and more satisfied by what turned out. I supposed she, and her little companions, owe a lot to so called ‘Pin Up Art’, and owes a lot to Enoch Bolles, who I have a strange connection with and great admiration for – the sort of thing seen on WW2 bombers and fighters, not quite ‘erotic’, but distinctly naughty and slightly provocative.

Whatever, I decided to do a series of these ‘Faery’ pictures, each based on a particular drug. They attempt to portray both the positive and negative qualities of the drug in question, without fear or favour, and of course with shockin’ bad taste here and there. For instance, the faery’s associated with more reckless and careless drugs will show it in facial expressions, and slight ‘naughtiness’ such as showing their knickers or bra straps etc. All pure fantasy of course, but I decided to make them all a bit sweet and vaguely ‘sexy’, in a manner appropriate to each drug – I actually have no idea about ‘faery lore’ concerning clothes and underwear, so I have free reign on that?
Many are fairly obvious, each picture will have three faery’s, two as ‘support’. For instance, the Benzofaery is sleeping peacefully, with a peaceful, deeply relaxed face, while the Crackfaery is in full flight with buzzing wings, clutching pipe and lighter with wild hair and eyes, a bit manic and hysterical. The Skunkfaery will be relaxing in a flower (they all include flowers and leaves), with obvious foliage and a big smile, bloodshot eyes and large spliff, obviously.

The Smackfaery will be accompanied by poppy flowers, and somewhat jaded, though happily surrounded by candles, spoons, syringes and burnt tinfoil… with maybe one companion in trouble… not sure yet.
My problem is with the ones where I am entirely unfamiliar with the drug in question. Acid and mushrooms, great, lots of ideas there, and the Dancefaery or Ecstasyfaery, no problem, and the Boozefaery will be a great pleasure. However, the Ketfaery is another matter – I have never taken the stuff, and have few clues of how to represent such a drug, its effects, or those under the influence. I have seen a few, but they were either comatose or in a panic state. Perhaps the ‘dissociation’ thing might be appropriate, two or more images together… but I really have no idea? If anyone who is familiar with the stuff has any ideas, I would love to hear them? I suppose I could bite the bullet and try some, but think that would be going a bit too far in the cause of ‘art’, as the stuff scares the life out of me, and I think I’ve left it too late to start now, being almost 60! Asking for advice seems far more sensible?

BTW, the last one was going to be ‘The Comedown Goblins’, which might also include things I haven’t thought of yet… basically, any ideas or suggestion most welcome!

Thank you Crowe! I have now done the Methfaery, Smackfaery's (a bit grim), Crackfaery, Acidfaerys, Skunkfaerys, and started the Benzofaery's and the Magical Dancing Mellow Amphetamine Faery's (v complicated!). Sadly, no ispiration yet for the Ketfaery's.... and I am not going to try the stuff just to 'inspire' myself!
If you can think of any I might have forgotten or neglected, please do tell!

Dissociation could resemble an out of body fairy. Like there is a kind of passive sleeping fairy and a active fairy that is drawed like a shadow or a spirit that has left the body.

Hmmmm.... thanks rujex. Several rather peculiar ideas come to mind after googling 'ketamine art'... rather unpleasant ones I have to say, what a disturbing selection! Maybe one faery trying to pick herself up?

OOBE's are very common, perhaps you could have one faery somehow watching itself somehow? Maybe through a window? I suppose you could have a seemingly infinite number of "window images", each as a separate frame - to me, that would capture the essence of the depersonalisation that dissociatives invoke. :)

Hello Sprout - sorry about than PM, will sort it! I have had an OOBE as it happens... looking down at myself snoring like a drunken hog was rather ghastly, especially since I was supposed to be dead!Less than ever am I tempted to try Ketamine....

I will post the results.... only half way through though.
Thanks everyone
