My gf just had a seizure from too much tramadol. 1500 mg within 24 hours.
Dont think she has much if any at all in the previous day.
I got home from work and 5 mins later she completely seized up and fell to the ground. It was scary.
I called 911, by the time the medics arrived she had regained conciousness.
We declined going to the hospital as we cannot afford it and she seemed for the most part coherent.
She is now nodding in and out of sleep on the couch.
What can I do to help? Should she eat or drink anything? Her temp is Not elevated actually slightly low.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Get her to the hospital now! That is way too much tramadol in such a short period! Tramadol is a weird drug that has both opioid & ssri effects. She could possibly go into seratonin syndrome from that much tramadol, which can be fatal!

Anything over 400mg in 24 hours puts you at risk for seizures.

That part of the States is whack. Should be public hospitals for people who can't afford prvt healthcare.

I always take Valium with tramadol, if she comes around and seems ok , I am not a Dr, but a couple of Valium, maybe 300mgs Gapapentin if you can get these things, Clonazepam, Pregabalin, some Anti-Seizure Drugs, but not enough to knock her out again.

Yes she should eat and drink plenty of fluid, if she smokes , try and tell her not to smoke just now, and as stated above if you DONT go to the hospital, I personally would defoe get some Benzos, now after that if she has been using Tramadol a long time she is going to get hellish W/D's I'm just telling you the truth, she may describe to you that she is getting weird brain shocks and at that point she should take just a small dose of Tramadol , as small as possible to hit the receptor that is starving, it is weird and horrible, I have been through it, but get some valium and when she takes a small dose , 10mg valium at the same time, that's what I recommend personally, I would not let her take Tramadol without an Anti-Convulsant at the same time any time soon.

Good Luck.

common sense which it sounds like you need to work on is 911.you have a computer,in the future when you experiment google these things or go on these forums first.i experiment with ethnobotanicals but i always google stuff first to see how other people react to different dosages.i hope she's ok.i wouldn't do anymore trams at all, ever.erowid is the first place i go for info. peace........

HOLY FUCK, I had a seizure off 400mg and 30mg of adderalll.. Dude, 1.5gs is way too much what the fuck where yall thinking,, You want to die? For the love god control your dose.. She should go to the hospital to make sure her brain is ok after that. Like someone said she may get fever from serotonin syndrome which can be fatal...

no ER will turn you away. many do have programs for low income people.

it is VERY shitty that you may be stuck with a huge bill, but i have NEVER understood why people don't seek medical attention just bc drugs are involved. I've been present at a few ODs, no one got in trouble for calling the ambo. and who CARES about cash when your life is at risk.

what sucks is that was his first post, he may not come back. worried about his gf. i want to hear shes ok.

The danger isnt just from seizures. 1.5g of tramadol is a toxic overdose, both the nodding and low body temp are a sign of opioid overdose and could easily be fatal by itself (regardless of the seizures).
A benzodiazepine is the best option for treating seizures but is only appropiate in medical settings because it will increase the opioid OD effects.
In cases like this, hospital should be the only help considered, not canvassing opinions off an internet forums.

This is what I was also thinking. Even though tramadol is a weak opioid she has a shit load in her system and just taking a benzo could cause more problems than it helps. Hopefully he comes back with an update.

there are durgs available at the er that will take the opiates off her receptors, thus insuring she will not nod out and never wake up, and then she could also take a benzo to prevent farther nastiness from the ssri effects including seizure. No ER in the states will turn you away, regardless of your ability to pay, even if your an illegal they will treat you. No reason not to go

dudes, i dont think the ambulance can leave if they see someone who they believe will encounter death/severe life-complicating issues without immediate further medical attention. if they checked her out, i'm sure she will at least live to see another day. from a practical standppoint, it would be too much potential liability/risk for them.
