I took the last year off from school and will also be taking next semester off so I can save up and get a house.

Anyways, I have no idea how to go about picking what I want to major in. I have a few ideas such as; Chemistry, Computer Science, Cosmology, or Astronomy (if that is one). Basically something regarding the sciences.

I was thinking about pulling a double major but that would probably be a pain in the ass.
Any tips?
Such as a major/minor.

I don't have much of a clue when it comes to specific degrees and such.

Thanks much.

double majors aren't that hard if you get two things in the same field. I had philosophy/polisci and many of the general prereqs were the same so it made it pretty easy.

Look into a nursing major. You're a guy, so if you keep your grades up you can get scholarships that will pay for most of your school. Also the classes are full of girls if you might like that. If you stay on track, after two years you go straight into clinicals and classes, basically every thing you take focuses on nursing. Then when you pass the NCLEX, you have so many options for more school...nurse practitioner, nurse anesthetist, med school (the list could go on and on). If you're a nurse you have a damn good shot at getting into med school, a sure shot if you have a couple years experience working as one. I like nursing because it mixes science with actually helping people. You don't just walk in and make a diagnosis, you have to help the mind, body, and spirit of a person - a holistic approach. Undergrad consists of nursing classes, chemistry, anatomy, pathology, and probably a few easier classes like english and fine arts. Also psychology or sociology, I loved my psych classes. I'll be in upper division in a year. Two years later, I should be making around $40,000. After a couple of years, I plan on going to nurse anesthesiology school. Then I'll be making straight bank, ~$100,000. The anatomy classes really kicked my ass, so I had to spend an extra year, or else I'd already be in upper division (which is the clinicals/all nursing classes).

If all else fails jsut go undeclared, take a bunch of different classes, and find out what you like. Talk to your advisor a lot, too. It's their job to help you as much as you want, even though they have to help a lot more people of course.

how many credits do you have now? if you're still around a sophmore level then you don't necessarily have to choose yet. I didn't declare my major (philosophy) until my third to last semester.
