On the Border of Indecision, thank you Jimmy!
So, I was prescribed Oxycontin for years and years and recently switched pain doctors and they changed my medication to Opana ER 30mg about 2-3 months ago. I am finally getting used to it and BOOM, it's nowhere to be found! I have looked up the generic name and it's called Oxymorphone. Is it available in generic form under a different name than Opana? If not, it looks l'm in for another switch today. I sure hope there is a way around this. I'm going crazy!

Thanks everyone in advance for your help! Love the site!

no generic ER version available yet, tho 3 companies have been licensed to make generics.
The 30 mg ER are available nationwide as of last month, but most pharmacy s won't sell it and fewer will keep it in stock. Try an independent pharmacy and ask if they will order it.

If I were you man, switch to morphine or dilaudid.... Oxymorphone right now, although the best chemical pain killer in my opinion, is completely ruined by it's formulators.

Are the new Operas that bad compared to the old ones when taken as directed?

Morphine ER would be a much cheaper and easier to obtain alternative than Opana or hydromorphone ER in the US.

According to my fellow pain patients at the clinic, the new formulation does ZERO, barely fights off the withdrawals. Everyone is switching off.

Thanks everyone! So, at the Dr. Office today, he gave me a script for the 30mg again and handed me the Opana "locater" phone number to help me find a pharmacy with the meds in stock. I told him I had contacted almost 10 pharmacies before the appt. and no one had enough Opana to fill my script (or were totally out!). He said they may not be telling me the truth over the phone, which I was aware, was possible but for some reason I don't think that was the case today. He said give the number a shot to see what happens. Well, they call me back in about an hour and told me a pharmacy not 5-10 minutes from home that could fill my script. I was flabbergasted! That was the one pharmacy nearby I didn't call because they never have anything in stock. Not only that, but "Bonus" - they filled my script with the old formulation. UFB! I'm sure that's about it for the old guys, so I may very well ask to be switched to something else. I was thinking maybe, hydromorphone (instead of oxymorphone) may be the ticket. I have checked some of my pharmacies I use and none of them have the ER version of it but maybe with some lead-time, they can order it for me for next month.

That's my story, so I have dodged a bullet for another month but this stuff sometimes wears me out. I think I even stress out my wife with all of this and I hate the thought of it but it is what it is, so that's my f'ing life! Thanks again for all of the responses! Rock on!!

Can you not get pharmacies to order stuff in that they don't have over there? Or can you not go without for that few extra days?
