Currently SWIM prescribed 40mg of adderall a day via 2 20mg IR tabs; also SWIM is prescribed 30 1mg lorazepam tabs. SWIM has had these for a little over a month because the time SWIM was given these it was his first time getting treated for his anxiety and ADD.
Well now SWIM is running out of both his scripts because even though they are both as needed SWIM has found out that he is much more emotionally stable and can preform much better when he takes these medications more often than not. Now he is not abusing them because he keeps the doses at or below prescribed level, and not more than it says he is allowed to on the bottle. It is just that the script is for a month and its been over a month.
Although SWIM is fine with keeping his ADD meds the same because they work AMAZINGLY, like he doesn't know how he functioned before, he was a lazy irresponsible person. But anyways off topic. His anxiety meds do great for what they are prescribed for, helping him sleep because he usually has anxiety at night. Well after taking these meds for a bit he doesn't get sedated anymore, which he thinks is great, because he can now take them on days where he is totally on edge and feels an impending sense of doom, and it makes him feel perfectly normal! Its great, no sedation like he thought, just no extreme tension from anxiety.
Now he is wondering if he could ask his doc in a few weeks when he has a follow up appt. for a longer acting benzo that he can just take on those days, which are most days of the week unfortunately. He knows the risk of dependance but it is seriously worth it. You would not believe the difference between when he takes them and when he doesn't.
So how should he ask him? should SWIM just say what he said here? or what? SWIM doesn't want to sound like a drug seeker cause he is in college and many people would just assume he is because of my age. What does he say? He really needs it. More and more he realizes how nervous he is all the time. He bites his lip till his mouth bleeds and he has no skin around his nails cause he bites it off. And thats good days.
