Help on knowledge of Mescaline?

So me and my close friend regularly do LSD together, about once occasionally twice a month, with occasional multiple month breaks
We do it to clear our minds and reorganize our thoughts for our lives, very spiritual experience.
We usually take anywhere from 3-5 tabs.

Now he wants to try Mescaline, (also known as peyote?) and I told him I didn't want to, but if he wanted to that I wasn't going to stop him.
Now I know pretty much nothing about the drug, except that it's a psychedelic that comes from some cactus.
Does anyone have any further information on it? How it feels, how it effects people permenantly, things to do/not do when on the drug, purity of the drug, what it should look like, etc.

Anything would help :] I'm just trying to look after my close friend.

Do you know about http://www.erowid.org/? There's also plenty of info here on Bluelight, there's megathreads that you can find in the directory, to which there's a link at the top of the PD forum (and which this will probably be merged into). Mescaline is not the same thing as peyote. Mescaline is a drug, a chemical, and peyote is a cactus that contains it (as well as many other alkaloids). Which are we talking about? And I must ask, why don't you want to try it? If you can handle reasonable doses of acid, mescaline is gentle in comparison (although a bit hard on the body ime).

Dude, if you take LSD for spiritual experiences, you should DEFINITELY consider mescaline. Shamans have used it in various cultures for thousands of years. It's safe, reliable, gentle and profound. You will find it in peyote, san pedro and peruvian torch cacti specimens. You have to ingest quite a lot of cactus juice to get a trip, unfortuately. Go to Erowid and look at the cacti vault, I'm sure you'll find it intruiging.

yes, i am surprised you trust LSD moreso then mescaline !

i don't know where to start ? they both work on the 5-HT2A receptor they have similar mechanisms of action in the brain and somewhat similar effects

ive eaten it maybe ten times; the experience of mescaline is warm, it's sweet, like a glow
i have more experience with LSD but i am not sure how to compare the effects
