Help me quit smoking

My boyfriend (smoker of 12 years) and I used electronic cigarettes to quit cigarette. Not the type you buy in convenient stores but ones that have stronger batteries and atomizers that are sold online. I would highly recommend a setup for a newbie called the E-Go C Twist paired with a tank (to hold the liquid) called the Kanger T3. You can also purchase all sorts of delicious flavors online and taper down your nicotine from 26 to 16 to 12 to 8 to 6 and then 0. I'm currently at 6 =D.

This is my situation, too (You know this all-too-well, stardust ;) - lovin' that ProVari, eh??). Electronic cigarettes not only changed my life - they may have, in the long-run, saved my life. I own too many eCigarettes, APV's, various tanks, etc. to post pictures of them all. To do so would be... well, embarrassing! :o But below are some of my saviors:

The white and the blue eCigarettes in the foreground are the eGo-C Twists of which stardust speaks, in case any newcomer is interested to know what they look like. They have slightly more advanced tanks attached to them, though, than I would recommend to someone just starting out, but they give the general idea.

In the background are my three APV's - "advanced personal vaporizers." From left to right we have a Sigelei ZMax (the one decked out as R2D2); the Innokin iTaste SVD (the one that looks like a lightsaber, LOL) with a Vivi Nova SVT tank atop it; the right-most is one of my most technologically advanced APV's out there, the eVic by JoyeTech, with its own operating system built into the mechanized head. It has the same tank as stardust's ProVari, the KangerTech Pro Tank.

Vaping has left me more physically fit, completely non-reliant on traditional tobacco (haven't smoked a cigarette in ages), increased my lung capacity, dismissed any smells/odors/need for flame/ashes/secondhand smoke, and allows me to control very precisely the amount of nicotine I put into my body.

I have an app for my iPad that helps me tangibly track my progress away from my eleven-year Marlboro Reds addiction. Here is a snapshot of what it has to say about my progress at the time of this post:

490 blissful days of tobacco-abstinence. I think eCigs are one of the greatest things to happen to global societal health in a long, long time.
I guess, to conclude...

...and happy to be!!

If anyone is interested in quitting with the use of electronic cigarettes I would love to give pointers. I think it works very well.

I would also like to sincerely echo this statement <3

SwimmingDancer, some people are, indeed, somewhat allergic to the propylene glycol used in eLiquid; you can skirt this issue by purchasing liquid that is nearly, or completely, VG (vegetable glycerine).

I remember when I first started, waaaay back, I would use those types of e-cigs that look like traditional cigarettes, and whose liquid-soaked cotton cartridges were comprised entirely of PG, and I had similar symptoms. I now use an 80% VG, 20% PG mix as my standard, though 100% VG isn't bad, either. Consider giving it a try!

neversick - I just got back from my vacation. I am still not smoking. Not feeling like it's getting any easier though and still having strong cravings. :X

Vaya - As I said earlier in the thread I have tried VG liquid. I might experiment with it some more though because I didn't give it too much of a chance and am not totally positive it still hurt my mouth. It may be that nicotine hurts my mouth as well. The only kind of e-liquid I haven't tried is zero-nicotine 100%-VG.

^Keep strong, hun. <3 The cravings can be harsh, but it will get easier with time. Have you tried knitting, drawing, or anything else to keep your hands busy? I know when I quit I had a hard time figuring out what to do with my hands since I didn't have cigarettes to hold anymore and would fidget a lot. I bought coloring books and crayons/colored pencils and that seemed to help some.

yep cravings were strong this weekend.. in a rare place where i smoked indoors in the last decade.. so i said fk this.. really, is this all the worse you can make me crave.. turned it into some sick game with myself.. I ended up winning .. hang in there swimm.. and really is this all it has for you?? ask it for more??

Awesome <3

BUMP............. where you at swimm??

Today is day 13 of no cigs. I ran out of weed and thats making the cravings much more intense. If you try to quit smoking make sure you can avoid triggers.

considering we redose on cigs ten.. twenty+ times a day.. this is impossible IMO, best learn how to deal with triggers

Yeah, I agree, however we can try to re-expose ourselves to triggers (at least the ones that we can have some control over) gradually instead of say, being around people who are smoking and offering cigarettes on day 2 of quitting :). I've been doing pretty well with recognizing triggers and not acting on them so far - although almost everything is a trigger for me, lol. I found a cigarette while I was cleaning the other day and didn't smoke it! I still haven't been spending much time with my friends who smoke yet though, we'll see how that goes.

I think the cravings are actually starting to get a bit better finally. We'll be at a month in just a few days!

Sorry I haven't been around, I'm just super busy right now and taking some time away from Bluelight.

Thank you too! <3 It has been really great to be able to support each other and have someone to do this with. And thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread - you are all awesome and I am super grateful to have this community.

spork - I like your ideas :)

weekend addiction - How are you doing?

Hey - Proud of both of you. You're doing something fantastic for yourselves, as well as something unimaginably difficult for many others.

PROPS!!!

I hope you guys will keep us updated as I'll be quitting on June 29th and will definitely keep checking on this thread to keep my spirits and my motivation up!!

Congratulations to all BLers who have successfully quit. Keep up the good vibes ;)

Sorry guys, but I always win :)

Day, what is it, five(?) cold turkey. First try :). Phys withdrawal and acute feelings of wanting to pound something organic and eukaryotic into a pulp almost gone. Had my first real intense trigger yesterday upon extolling the virtues of non-adulterated tobacco vs 'noids. Still though I'm not stopping...stopping. Can't afford 30/week in dough, I can get a medication to deal with this depression the right way, and I'll never have to go out in the freezing cold because I'm addicted to smoking.

Beats wasting money, health, and freedom really haha

Such a simple quote but so true! Each of those entails so much.

You mentioned you would spend $30/week. (30)(52)=$1,560, which is now what you're saving!
