Help me quit smoking

HA..swimm.. fucd day, so it was harder today.. emotions out of whack.. but when i look back honestly on it.. it all good, just thinking a little nuts.. not nuts enough to start smoking again.. hope you are better than amazing.. turning in, better day tomorrow;)..

My boyfriend (smoker of 12 years) and I used electronic cigarettes to quit cigarette. Not the type you buy in convenient stores but ones that have stronger batteries and atomizers that are sold online. I would highly recommend a setup for a newbie called the E-Go C Twist paired with a tank (to hold the liquid) called the Kanger T3. You can also purchase all sorts of delicious flavors online and taper down your nicotine from 26 to 16 to 12 to 8 to 6 and then 0. I'm currently at 6 =D.

Here is a picture of my current setup (a slightly more advanced and expensive setup):

If anyone is interested in quitting with the use of electronic cigarettes I would love to give pointers. I think it works very well.

Ugh, I'm having a rough day today. My pain is really bad and I'm feeling kinda mentally unstable.

stardust.hero your PV looks rad! But I've decided I don't think I can vape e-cigarettes anymore.

My mouth got so messed up from vaping. Excruciating pain and there are tiny blisters and ulceration on my tongue and lips. Whatever is wrong with my mouth, it seems to be very sensitive to something in the e-liquid, which makes it way worse. I haven't vaped at all today and it's still super sore. When I think about it, when my mouth initially began hurting was back when I was vaping regularly around a year ago (with the idea of cutting back on smoking). That's a big part of why I stopped vaping back then and went back to only smoking regular cigarettes, but my mouth didn't recover. This time around I was very motivated to stop smoking and even haven't been vaping that much, had days without it and tried low-nic, no-nic, VG-only, etc, still making my poor mouth more sore.:X I had been hoping that it was only the nicotine affecting my mouth/lips.

Feeling kinda despondent. Maybe having drug side effects from starting hydrocortisone today, not sure. Having an argument in my head about the idea of having "just one" cigarette.. ;)

Damn swimm you are making me pull from the NA white book.. "The only way to keep from returning to active addiction is not to take that first drug. If you
are like us you know that one is too many and a thousand never enough" . remember, WHY have a cigarette.. propylene glycol is i think the inactive ingredient in e cigs, same thing the use for fogers, could be wrong.. IDk look it up and see what you find.. hang in there i'm with ya.. wana go back when we are so close?<3

You probably already have but seriously read into the harm tobacco causes you.. From cancer to emphysema to strokes..There is no happy (or remotely comfortable) ending.

Thanks rikolasnice but as I mentioned before, knowing about the health risks has no effect on me; addiction is irrational.

Thanks neversickanymore :). I have thought about the PG, I might be sensitive to it. Some people are. I think my mouth is just sensitive to everything. But it is interesting that this horrible mouth pain began when I was vaping e-cigs.

I was telling myself the same thing, that there is no good reason to smoke (even a supposed "just one"), but that's just what my addicted brain likes to suggest "let's just have one" - haha, like your line reads "babysitting the argument in my head". Just having a tough day today because I felt like crap and so the not smoking on top of everything else that's been going on is just another added stress. Hey we're almost at one week!

Its funny how your brain tricks you into smoking lol. Your 100% against it, somebody offers you one or your beside the shop and think “fuck it one won't hurt”. Halfway through the cig you feel disgusted at yourself... Lol

Tehehe neversick I love the idea of having my own little RT unit. :3.

SD perhaps the system you are using to vape isn't vaping it enough. If you've ever gotten the stuff in your mouth it's pretty burny and nasty. Maybe you need a system that can vaporize it a little more so the vapor isn't as thick? What are you currently using? I've read that people get beeding gums when they initially quit smoking and begin vaping. This supposidly occurs because your mouth is repairing itself or something... More bloodflow or something like that. It sucks vaping isn't working for you because I've found it was the only thing that helped me quit.

I smoked a lot of weed and drank quite a bit of alcohol... But I'm at the 8th day of no nicotine. Last night at the bar someone asked me do you want a cigarette? I said no without even realizing it. There are times in your life when you know you've hit a turning point. I am no longer a cigarette smoker.

^Congrats weekend and neversick! :) I actually turned down an opportunity to smoke yesterday too. I am still having a tough time with intense cravings though. Especially after I eat. I need to think of something to replace the habit.

I don't think either of those things are the problem unfortunately. There is something chronically wrong with my mouth, it has been very painful for around a year now. Certain things make it worse, such as smoking and especially vaping. But when this mouth pain initially started was back when I first started vaping, around a yr ago. I then stopped vaping but it never completely went away. It got especially bad when I began vaping again a few days ago. My gums aren't bleeding or anything, I don't think it's anything to do with stopping smoking (it was actually improving a bit several days ago when I was not smoking and also not yet vaping). I was using an Ego-C and it wasn't leaking. I guess I am just not meant to vape :(. Although the one thing I haven't tried is an all vegetable glycerine (VG) zero nicotine liquid.

I haven't vaped for 2 days and the mouth pain is getting a TINY bit better, but only a tiny bit. So frustrating! :(

Haa.. quitting smoking sucks at points but not nearly as bad as continuing to smoke.. cigarettes, cant help thinking when I look at someone smoking a cigarette now how asinine they look.. my how uppity i've gotten in a few days=D Nice work swimmingdancer!!

Haha don't become one of those self-righteous former smokers ;).

Honestly I see people smoking and all I feel is jealous. I am having particularly bad cravings today, ugh.

There's a former smoker in my office (at least when I get to go in) that keeps a running total of how much he's saved. He's on year 4ish and the amount is almost at 8K. He uses an iPhone app called (no joke) 'Cold Turkey' to track his savings.

He did mention that all of these savings has gone to the dentist to clean and fix the damage of 25 years of smoking. But now he's got a nice smile to go with his marine self.
