I've been on 150 mg METHADONE since 2008 .....
Back in December, I go to the pain clinic and am informed that they are reducing my dosage to fall in line with new CDC REGS....
I went April 12th and was reduced down to 30 mg per day .....
I think I'm going to go CRAZY....
They actually added 2 10mg Oxycodone for mid day pain, which is nothing......
Please somebody HELP......
I'm going to try to get in to see the doc tomorrow, MAY 2, .....
What do I tell them, other than I'm way too low, to help relieve my pain..... They got me so high, and NOW ... ?
Somebody PLEASE OFFER SOME ADVICE ......... !
Thanx ...

A clinic may not be the best for a pain patient. This is disgusting simply changing everyone's dosage to comply to guidlines. What did they think, stable patients would still be pain free if dose is cut by 1/5. I am not sure of how strict this is Johngage, but doctors generally can treat outside of guidlines. This is a bit different with all the issues of prescribing narcotics, but I will check.

Yea you will probably end up at the methodone clinic.. If they already took u down and took ubdown just like that there probly not going to higher your dose no matter what you tell them... Sorry

I don't think anyone should be taking medicine just to get high if you're really in pain have your doctor send you to a pain doctor that can give you the best medicine for whatever problem it is that you are having to take Hydromorphone which is Dilaudid 8 milligrams every 4 to 6 hours also I am taking 2 Hydro 10 325 every 2 hours she has me every 4 to 6 hours so I alternate them and they work really well you just have to really be careful while taking them because they can mess with your aspirations I hope that helps you a little bit

Pointless replying to a '1 post' that does not reply.

Not really. People have lives off of BL and sometimes it takes a while to get back to a thread.:)

People struggling with chronic pain have a very tough road. I have chronic joint pain but it is not severe enough for me to want all the horrendous side effects that come with pain meds (not to mention addiction). But for those suffering extreme or debilitating pain the best you can do is to keep trying to find a doctor that will work with you. Pain patients are suffering because doctors wantonly gave out opiates like candy (to one demographic whilst denying them routinely to others). Go to a pain clinic and learn everything you can do to minimize the pain without drugs and to learn how to prudently manage the drugs you are on. I'm really sorry that you were treated like this. Doctors, more than anyone, should know better.

From my own experience and I don't mean to sound like an alarmist, but I would consider ER treatment because you could be potentially at risk for opiate withdrawal induced psychosis.

I was on 240mg and had a "rapid" taper of 30mg/day, I got down to 140mg or so and went into a full on psychotic state and wound up on subway tracks trying to kill myself.

At that point I couldn't speak, I couldn't remember how to use a phone, let alone any numbers from any family and friends.

I had no idea that could happen from withdrawing, some people are more susceptible than others but it happens frequently.

If I ever found myself in your situation again, I would go to the ER and tell them I am afraid that the rapid withdrawal is making me suffer opiate withdrawal induced psychosis.

Get treatment ASAP because it gets worse before it gets better and I know what you are feeling, things can get very unpredictable so medical attention is necessary.

I wound up on methadone again and hit 170mg and it happened again, so although 240mg may seem crazy high, I suffered the same symptoms rapidly withdrawing from a lower dose.

I got started on pain meds due to a botched surgery, I had severe nerve damage and felt like a blowtorch was on my crotch 24/7, I had to overcome it because in the end addiction will make you hurt worse than any physical pain, after starting treatment I started exercising tiny bit, by tiny bit and it accumulated into me being able to deal with my pain.

My pain could not get any worse, eventually I broke through it and so can others.

I sincerely pray that your pain and withdrawal is eased asap

This recent opiate attention has the potential to be something great, but you can't get anywhere without equal attention to the problem and solution.

Cutting everyone's Rx opiate prescription without making sure safeguards are put in place is basically giving the drug cartels a primed and ready market to exploit.

There should be laws put in place as far as taper is concerned, because rapid tapers are the equivalent to pushing people with fractured legs out of a wheelchair.
Sure the guy with fractured legs will walk again, but a wheelchair will reduce the stress to the legs making for a faster recovery.
Opiate addicts can live without opiates, but purposefully putting someone through a rapid taper to comply with regulations that were enforced due to an greedy unethical industry is sacrificing that person's chances of a successful recovery in exchange for compliance.

That a ridiculous dose decrease to do to someone. If all else fails I would go to a clinic. Any update?
