HELP Ketamine infusions for chronic pain

Thanks Edge,

It's so great to hear from anyone who can comprehend my situation and share. Just to clarify,- I have no "known addictions", hell, I consistently tick the "no" box on medical forms even just asking if I ever drink alcohol!!

Sometimes I think this has to be some huge game, there is the life I live and there is the life I present to the medical profession.

If I took my oxy as prescribed I would be existing in a pretty average world. So there's always a payoff,- & I accept that in exchange for some truly great & almost pain free days with sweetchildofmine there will also be days that completely suck.

I don't think I'm alone with that mindset. If we did a poll & asked "who would like a 'meh' day, or who would opt for an absolutely fucking awesome day followed by a shitty one"? It'd be unanimous.- on this site anyway lol.

Hey there again I am starting to think in my opinion if the ketamine hasn't already
"Re-Wired'' your brain then I don't believe it is going to do so by adding more and more infusions. Now the damage your hear coming from ketamine abuse is usually from well ''abuse" and from taking it consistently for years with out giving your body a break. But still can imagine its doing you any good especially the high dose he is using. If its not even helping you much at all and you can do without then I would try that.

But Keep in mind if you were in withdrawal after the ketamine infusion then of course your going to feel like crap and have lots of overly exaggerated pain due to the way opiates rewire the brain in their own way making you more susceptible to pain. Its possible The ketamine couldnt help because your brain was starved for opiates so it makes your pain alot worse despite the ketamine trying to do its job your body just wanted opiates. The only way around this is to be on a low dose of opiates so your not in withdrawal then try the ketamine see if it helps at all. Or you could taper and quit opiates all together then when withdrawal ceases try another infusion to see how it works when your not dependant on opiates. These could help you see if the ketamine does help but I totally get how that would scare someone in your position who truly needs pain relief 24/7.

Again I haven't gone through the 10 years of med school like your doctor has but mabye talk to him about your concerns and look for a second opinion with another qualified doctor. You could also print off a few articles on ketamine and pain receptors to show to your doctor. He may get annoyed for you being a wi-fi armed know it all but usually if a doctor did a few quick online searches they could help a patient faster than consulting a colleague because new discoveries in modern medicine are found so very often that sometimes doctors can't keep up with them due their workload etc.

And HOOD you ever been checked for scoliosis or another problem with your spine?
