Help! I'm scared of the anxiety of Shrooms!!

I was the samee, except it was my first time on shrooms. I don't remember much of the come up but I think I was worrying my boyfriend with how weird I was, the anxiety definitely had me and I puked during the come up which was a mental clusterf*ck. Overall I really did enjoy it, it was very emotional and beautiful but I'd have to be in my happy place next time I try.
 
Honestly just realize that anxiety is part of the mushroom package and that it is all in your head. I get way more anxiety from mushrooms than L but a lot of times I can benefit greatly from that difficulty as long as I dont pop benzos through the peak thats just takes away from the knowledge. I also pay a lil more attention to my set and setting with muhsrooms and take their power into account. I wouldnt worry so much keep your dose right not gonna be a big deal.
 
As previously mentioned, use some MJ during the come up to help ease your anxiety.

I personally prefer to take a walk during a mushroom come up. Find a beautiful park or possibly a small hike in a nature area will most certainly put you in a wonderful mind set. This is the best avenue I have found as all of that nervous energy will be released, and your mind will be focused on the mysterious wonders of nature.
 
^^although this is good advice in one sense (excersise will release some of the energy that manifests as anxiety) it can also cause more anxiety if it brings you into contact with other people. I know that, even though i have ample evidence that i pretty much act normal (if perhaps a bit happy) when i am tripping, interaction with sober people, especially sober strangers or those in authority positions, can be lead to alot of anxiety. This is not true for other people. just depends how you are, but if there is already anxiety, taking a hike/walk is only good if you are unlikely to run into other people.
 
I find alchohol reduces much of the anxiety of shroom trips. The come up anxiety is the worst with shrooms, as your coming up you feel so ansty and uncomortable. In social situations on higher doses it can be pretty horrible actually :( So I tend to drink to overcome that. Alternatively, the 'hippyflip' is very good at reducing the anxiety. Mix shrooms with some good ecstasy/MDMA and it's a much more enjoyable trip all round IME.
 
The first time I took mushrooms they were fresh (A-dam) and that was just perfect. No nausea or anxiety.

However, the first few times I took dried mushrooms I had problems like you describe. Shrooms are really emotional, and feeling sick while on them can easily send you on a downward spiral. To be honest, I think most of the time shrooms have a bit of darkness to them. You gotta be able to face that shit once and a while. It is hard, but well worth it in the end.

Anyway, like I say, feeling sick doesn't help any, so here is a recipe that should help keep'em down.

Get some tea. Any tea that comes in a bag will work, so choose something you like.
Take your tea bag and carefully remove the staple at the top to open it. Set the string with the little square piece aside for later.
Place your mushrooms in the tea bag.
Tie off the top of the tea bag with the string.
Heat water to boiling, then let it sit for a minute or two to cool off a bit (if it is too hot you risk destroying the psilocybin).
Add tea bag and warm water to a mug.
Add lots of lemon juice (more than you would normally like). An acidic solution aids in the extraction (you can actually do extractions with just citrus juice as well)
Add honey to taste. If you added enough lemon juice it will probably be quite a bit.
Steep at least 15 minutes and enjoy.

If I didn't have the opportunity to make tea I always just ate caps. I understand that they are really no different from the stems, but something about eating caps was easier to stomach for me, and led to less anxiety and uncomfortable-ness. It is worth a try, if nothing else works for you. Hooray placebo!

Also, chocolates are good. Just powder the mushies in a coffee grinder and mix with melted chocolate (hooray microwave!) and poor into mini-muffin tins (make sure to use wrappers/pam spray).

And Lemon Tek: Mix that shit with lemon juice, let it sit for a few hours/over-night and filter through a bit of cloth.

^ your chocolate will taste way better if you melt it in a glass bowl sitting on top of a pot of boiling water. microwaves suck, they destroy nutrients. i only use it if i absolutely have to heat up last nights spaghetti


Lemon tek is most definitely the way to go, it's the only way I'll take mushrooms anymore. If you do it properly you'll be coming up hard within 10 minutes which leaves little time for an anxiety ridden come up.

It works much better if the dry shrooms are ground/crushed into a powder. Cover with lemon juice in a glass, stir every few mins for about half an hour, then pound it down. You will be amazed. I did this with 5g about a year ago and I still think about that trip almost daily.
