Okay, so here's the scoop. For the past couple of days I have been feeling under the weather. I have also had DRENCHING night sweats in my sleep the last two nights (Saturday and Sunday). Today, I felt increasingly tired, I had pain and just general uncomfort in my joints and bones, and have had off and on headaches and lymph-node swelling in my neck.

I began using Suboxone recreationally about six months ago (mainly when I couldn't find any kind of opiate). I have never been addicted per-say (at least I didn't think so). For the past couple of months I have been using Suboxone (4mg) every Monday and Wednesday afternoon. The last time I used was Wednesday afternoon, and it is now the following Monday evening. I am HOPING that my symptoms are from suboxone withdrawal rather than something else (WebMD suggests that I could have lymphoma or some other form of cancer.

I am a 20 year old male who weighs 180 pounds and am approx. 6'1. The thing that is scaring me the most is the night sweats. I am worried that they don't have to do with suboxone withdrawal? I am in otherwise good health and am a college student in San Francisco. Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you have any question's please don't hesitate to ask!

Shit man I'm having the same kind of sht happen to me. Do yu feel really hot and cold and sort of dizzy? I've been off the opiates for 4-5 days now

suboxone is the taper, if your going off the taper your going to be feeling, at a very limited intensity, all the symptomps you've been avoiding. dont fret. it would seem that if you have taken suboxone for 14 days or more that you should be alright, clinically. emotionally.. your quite vulnerable. how strong is your psyche? mind over matter.

It is just withdrawals from the suboxone, it is a very potent and long lasting opioid.......and don't let yourself become a hypochondriac, I bet your symptoms also mimic a thousand other conditions......you do not have cancer.

If you don't want to become addicted to Suboxone (or any other long lasting opioid) you shouldn't use it recreationally more than once a week. Putting only one day in between your doses will allow it to build up in your system, eventually leading to withdrawal.

Ehh, not so much dizzy. I do realize that I complain of being both hot and cold within a short period of time, though.

My psyche isn't bad. I'm still going to classes even though I'm feeling like shit. Just walking up a flight of stairs seems to completely drain me. How long do you think I'll be experiencing these symptoms?

This is exactly what I have been TRYING to tell myself. For some reason I can't seem to fully let those thoughts go away though....

This isn't from personal experience but from reading OD for more than a couple years; if you can get a hold of clonidine or guanfacine they help some people a great deal with sleep and avoiding night sweats.

Don't stress over having cancer lol, you're experiencing withdrawal from the Suboxone...absolutely NO doubt in my mind.

After I got clean for some time, I abused my old suboxone script by taking about .5mg snorted once a week. I eventually convinced myself that I could do it twice a week without any problems, and I was wrong. After doing that for a few weeks straight I started to notice the old familiar sub withdrawals creeping up on me (lower back sweats, hold/cold flashes and chills, lack of energy, no motivation, runny nose, etc.) and that was from only half of a milligram twice per week. I stopped doing it after that and the withdrawals went away after a few days (since the dose was so low for such a short amount of time).

In your case, doing 4mg twice a week is definitely what is making you feel sick. You might experience withdrawals for a week or longer; suboxone withdrawal is no joke if you've been on it for awhile. Quit while you're ahead man.

Keep in mind, buprenorphine has a long half life (24 hours if I'm not mistaken). That means that when you do 4mg, it takes over a week for it to completely leave your system. If you take another 4mg in the same week, it compounds the amount of suboxone in your system exponentially and takes it that much longer to leave your body, thus leading to the withdrawal you're experiencing.

Thanks for the help, really made me feel better about the situation. Yeah, I plan to at least get off of the sub for a couple weeks. Afterwards, I will probably use it once a week. I still love the feeling of being high on opiates (I have since about age 16) but I TRY to be smart about not fooling around with it too much. I would say I take about 110mg of oxycodone to feel a nice warm buzz about once every 2 or 3 weeks. I have really just been using the sub as a method to stop the "cravings" to get high off oxy. To be completely honest, the 4mg dose of sub really doesn't do much more to me than make me feel pleasant and friendly at this point.

I will definitely give an update on how I'm feeling tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's help...

Yeah, the problem with wanting to get high and only having access to long lasting opioids is that you have to control your usage and keep it at about once per week, which is hard to do when the cravings hit but if you can maintain control, you'll avoid the w/ds.

If you want to get high a few times a week instead you should look into a shorter acting opioid/opiate, like oxycodone, morphine or even heroin. Only downside there (and it's a huge downside) is that the shorter the half-life, the better the high...and the harder it is to stay in control (hence why heroin users almost always end up dependant). If you could use heroin only once a day every couple of days, you'd be fine...but seriously, how many of us know any dope users that can pull that off?

QFT, and see a real doctor whenever possible, the internet shouldn't be used to handle possibly life or death situations. By the way OP, you have classic opiate/opioid withdrawl symptoms and have 2 options:

1. Get some dope (suboxone, heroin, oxycodone ect.)
2. Ride it out (bupe w/d is long and shitty, good luck ;))

It's probably the opiate withdrawl, but there are a million other things it could be, including;
Lyme
MS
Mono
and all kinds of cancers and other things with really long, scary names.
But given the cirumstances, i wouldnt worry about it being lymphoma. And even is it wasn't the opiate withdrawl, i still wouldnt worry about it being lymphoma.

dude swollen lymph nodes are not a symptom of withdrawals.

I had something similar and it turned out to be mono.

hmm.... does anyone else think the swollen lymph nodes MIGHT point to infection?

just a thought, although it certainly could be just withdrawals....

I noticed that my lymph nodes were swollen while coming off of suboxone. I was, however, completely dependent on it at the time because of rehab, but they were swollen none the less. I honestly think OP is just having mild sub withdrawal. If you are that worried about it you should go to your doctor, instead of asking us. We cannot see you, evaluate your current condition, or anything else. We're about as good as calling up your best friend and asking their opinion.

Everyone experiences withdrawal with variations. Obviously we all feel shitty, but there are small things that change from person to person.

I hadn't seen swollen lymphnodes as a symptom of withdrawals either. Last night I didn't sweat too much. But I have been running a pretty high fever all day (I don't have a thermometer, but myself and others have noticed that I'm definitely warm). I wasn't able to sleep much at all last night. My throat seems to be a lot more irritated and I'm showing plenty signs of the common flu (ears that won't pop, muscle aches, etc.)

I am tempted to do a little bit of suboxone to find out if I am, in fact, suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Still, I don't want to have to go through this whole process all over again if that proves to be the case....
