Help Bluelight/Pillreports - vote in online poll

So, don't click on it, but copy-paste it into a browser.
Also johnboy could edit the message and remove the http:// part so UBB won't make it a link. That was from the thread JB started in main social - thought I should cross post it here...

The Australian government are powerless against sites such as bluelight/pillreports they have no authority to take them down, nor do they have the ability to block them from Australian users. Unless they were to implement an extremely large firewall on all links going overseas such as the ones implemented in China to censor free speech.
But I can't see us becoming an opressive state such China so I wouldn't worry too much.
The legislation that was passed in 2000/2001 (I can't remember exactly) meant to censor sites containing things the government deemed 'bad' such as porn/bomb making etc, of course this hasn't really worked at all since, once again, majoridy of the content is hosted overseas and Australian Law does not apply.
If however, bluelight/pillreports were hosted domestically, they could do something.
And to the AFP agents if you are reading this, doesn't that really piss you off? :) :) hehe

insomnia: yah, get fucked ;) . i kinda doubt that they would have something as sophisticated as that anyways... we'll see tomorrow, and anywy i've got it linked from lots of places :)

Well said Krill, my mind is more at ease now.
Sorry for the agression on this issue. I get frustrated at issue's like these and sometimes they annoy me.

Smartarse ;)

i actually have the mx and burst out reading it .. i mean... pillreports help people out.. why get rid of it...!!!!

To tell you the truth the Online Poll has nothing to do with the article.
Should the government crack down on websites promoting drug use?
Bluelight (and pillreports) does not promote the use of drugs. It is a drug harm minimising website.
Therefore, I do think that their should be a crackdown on sites promoting the use of drugs! However it's suicide to crackdown on websites like bluelight that help those that already take drugs to minimise possible harm.

PS. let me know if you think I'm wrong.
PPS. On a happy note 90.65% say no :)

I dunno - I wouldn't say that bluelight does not promote the use of drugs. There's a definite bias here which leans towards pro-drugs. But the point is that the site's purpose is not to promote drugs, it's to promote open discussion about drugs and provide as much factual information as possible so people can make up their own minds... :)

AHHHH FARK... good point laz!!.. such a catch 22 situation... this site does not promote usage.. cracking down on sites that "promote".. which I would say Yes.. stop sites promoting drug use...
if it said crack down on sites that give out harm minimalisation infomation I would say No.. dont stop them...
which way to vote??... from a media point of view, have to say No to the question cause saying yes, would lead the those HALF WITS "cracking down" on our beloved BL!

Ok, I found a copy of MX in the office Tea room ( a few copies actually, poor misguided people who pick it up...)
Anyway, big surprise, the results of the poll were nowhere to be found...

^^^^^^
Anyone who expected any different is a sadly deluded and idealistic soul who really doesn't belong in the real world. Of course they're not going to publish it, it is only worth publishing the results of a poll if it could be construed to represent the correct opinions of a broad section of society. This poll, did not represent anywhere near it. If we had been careful enough to put at least 2 Yes votes for every 3 No votes it might have been published, but as it was, fat chance.
We 0wned it, but I hate to break it to you, efforts would probably have been better spent on compiling a letter to send to parliament or something.
*shrugs*

This wasn't a move to try and change the worlds drug policies, this was just to make some smarmy editor feel stupid cos now he doesn't have a poll to publish cos we effectivly spammed it to death... ;)
I'm not an activist, I'm an anarchist... :D
