I take about 3 mg of phenazepam (dosed 1.5mg 2x / day), 3 times per week to deal with anxiety.

I am wondering what would the equivalence of this be to Clonazepam?

Since the half life of phenaz. is 60h and Clonaz. is 35hrs, if I were to switch over to the clonazepam for a tapering schedule, should my frequency of dosing double, or how would that work?

3mg phenazepam 3 times per week = 3mg clonazepam 6 times per week?

I need the estimated equivalent dosage in clonazepam for a day, as my doc wants me to be on a taper schedule where I dose daily, not 3 times per week.

Anyone better at math than I? :D

Since phenazepam may very be unknown to your doctor, and there is no cutting issues with klonopin, I suggest not switching over, and continue supervised treatment.

He's already taking the phenazepam, and he wants to switch over to the clonazepam, not the other way around.

Well he has it about right...

I would go with it. It is a lot safer to have supervised treatment. Go get that help. You can only move forward.

If you have bad anxiety no doctor imho should say oh no u dont heres some wellbutrin. This is why pharms get bad reps too. doctors are too informed on bad effects of benzos and blow it out of proportion. I would tell the doc straight eye to eye how long you have been using phenazepam and what triggerd the use in the first place. dont be surprised if the doctor doesnt care Keep looking. a lot of us are....

It is hard to say with certainty given the incomplete equivalence of BZD's (particularly when used primarily as anxiolytics). Even though it may mean a longer tapering process, you may want to be on the 'more than enough' side to allow for some 'wiggle' room. In any case, 1mg qd should give you enough room, or .5mg bid (the second though the same, logistically allows for greater precision).

Take 1mg phenazepam once daily, or take 0.5mg phenazepam twice daily. Those are just latin abbreviations you see on prescriptions. Where "q" actually means every and "d" is day, while b.i.d means "bis in die", meaning twice in a day. So it actually translates to "take 1mg phenazepam every day" and "take 0.5mg phenazepam twice in a day".

I am using phenazepam to taper since my doctor wanted me to taper in 3 weeks(after being on phenazepam 1-2mg for 1.5yrs, which I wasn't going to go through..). I made this php script that helps me keep track of around what amount of phenazepam I'm on/when to dose/when I have dosed for reference/etc: http://rharr.com/benzo/test.php?halflife=60

you could change halflife=60 to change it for any benzo

also everything you store there is stored in your browser not my server
