Hi everyone, I last signed in here in 2013 when I last beat a long and huge codeine and DHC habit. I was able to get through it by phoning in sick to work and hiding away from the world for a week or so - promised myself I would never let this happen again . . . . . Yet here I am.

Addicted to large amounts of codeine - 600mg + 🤦🏻‍♀️.

My life has changed so much difference since 2013, I now have a wife, a child, can't avoid work, yet I am going to attempt (succeed) a cold turkey over bank holiday weekend.

This time, I have obtained some pregabalin, and really hope this will make things more manageable - I would really appreciate any advice and opinions on this, as I am 100% on my own with this, but I need to do it, and want to do it. I never never used it before.

Will the pregabalin help? And how long can I use it for? Will people notice I am on it?

Thanks in advance for any help 🙏🏻🙏🏻

In what way should I need to be careful, I have read elsewhere it is amazing for withdrawals, especially the restless legs which are the worst part for me.

I should warn you that one of the more notable side effects of using pregbalin recreationally is that in high doses it can cause angry outbursts. I began using it for neuropathhy, which was a real mystery as to how I developed it but I went to an internal medicine clinic after getting a referral to my amazing doctor. It turned out that I had a vitamin B12 deficiency but they gave me pregbalin and I go to clubs and rave type events with my friends and I would use alot more than I would normally so I could get down on the dance floor with them without too much discomfort. It worked wonderfully for that and it's effects were like baclofen which my best friend calls vitamin B... the problem wirth the pregbys is that it wears off quickly so you redose quite often..or at least I did. Anyway, just wanted to share that bit of information with you. I wish you all the best in your recovery journey and crossing my fingers for you. Everyone deserves contentment and that's what this life is all about, helping one another and sharing our journeys and lived experience. You will succeed, after all you came back here after 13 years to ask for help and that's very assertive behavior. I for one am proud of you. <3

Hi, thanks, that's good advice, that would be the just thing I want - I'm hoping to get 3/4 days home alone which should hopefully get me over the worst of it - intend using pregabalin for 5/6 days only, very very wary of changing one addiction for another . . .

I always try to pick time or a day(s) to be sick but for me it backfires into a relapse as soon as I have to head back to work.

I recommend trying to just work through it. I mean yeah if it's absolutely intolerable then if you can take time to rest and not get fired, do it.. but for me I have found that keeping busy really annihilates the psychological torment which is basically thinking anxiously about my physical body,..

I don't know. When I kick on a day off I feel even more depressed and ultimately don't know how the hell I feel or if it will ever end.

You got this sending healers to ya
