Hi, everyone!

I am MaggieV (“Maggie” for short) and have browsed Bluelight and you all seem like a great group. Lots of diversity, interesting forums .... I like that there is so much variety. Places for lighter talk all the way to opposite pole....lots of info and support.

Nowadays, drugs are a daily part of my life for therapeutic/health purposes. I want to take fewer meds, although some are a “godsend” for chronic pain and anxiety.

I made a big move (I am in the USA) from a large city to a small town. Got myself a few acres on the top of a mountain with a view that goes for miles. I love the nature, the solitude, the wildlife and the privacy. It is my favorite “drug,” it really is and I am not in recovery....but I feel high and healthy here.

Looking forward to getting to know you all..

Good morning MaggieV.. thanks for the well done intro.

I respect those who like nature and such, but i am a sucker for the hustle and bustle or cities. What made you move?

Let us know if you have any questions about the site.

Welcome to Bluelight!

Hi, madness00, thanks for the warm welcome! Good question on why I moved because it is a completely different change of lifestyle.

Mainly, I moved because I have had my share of the big city life....and I do have family back in my former city. It is day’s drive (albeit, several hours) or a cheap flight. I researched where I wanted to move for a couple of years, actually. I don’t want to buy another home after this move, so it is what I call “my forever home.” Fortunately, it is a place people like to visit for the winter sports and national parks. So I will have friends visit, etc. But it is a tiny town, too.

We had a horrible, massive terrorist attack where I used to live awhile back. I wasn’t directly affected, but it made me want to pull away. I have retired from practicing law a few years before, so I am a free agent in that sense. So I sold my city house and was able to find my new home to purchase mortgage free. (I did have the unexpected expense of needing to sell my car and by an SUV as the elevation .... well, the mountains are too steep unless you have 4 wheel drive, lol, which I learned just recently.)

On a more personal level, I have created some geographical distance from someone I had to go no contact with. An ex. Granted, I can be located with some effort but I feel safer here.

I can say I was moving toward something better for me, more so than running away. And I brought protection (legal) with me! I am still moving my things, I have help and making a trip today, my final one. Whew!

I will always fondly remember my club scene days in the city, awesome times.

Hell yeah. I relate to this so much!

And I also ran from a toxic guy/love interest. Unfortunately running wasn't the solution I hoped for.

Welcome to Bluelight Maggie! Look forward to seeing you around.

First, we're happy you chose to join us! Secondly, I'm always pleased to see someone making choices for the right reasons. Sounds like you had enough and have now found what your heart and soul need at this point in the real world, we only hope we can meet some of your other needs here on BL. I look forward to crossing paths with you in the various forums.

Thanks for all the nice replies! As to my ex, I had therapy for my PTSD from the relationship...otherwise I will self medicate on medication for psychiatric and chronic pain conditions. When I left him, I never went back to him so there is closure for both of us.

So, I am not “on the run,” but I have PTSD from childhood, too. I have learned that I do not have to be in fight/flight mode, anymore. Moving was something I wanted to do to have a change of seasons and the nature here and I have a breathtaking Mountain View, a few acres to do some gardening (mainly vegetables, there are wildflowers everywhere and a substantial patch of blueberries and raspberries.). I don’t work anymore so I do not need a big city.

I am at a place in my life where I have the freedom to put myself first and my S.O./boyfriend is a non-user (not an addict, he has an occasional drink or two when we eat out and doesn’t smoke...which is great for me.).

The prior owners took really good care of the home and loved gardening. They even created a waterfall that flows into a small pond with large goldfish...which apparently can live through the winter with it iced over. (The winters are not bitter cold, but there is snowfall in the winter which I am looking forward to).

Well! That was awfully long, sorry to go on. Thanks again for the welcome.
